Senior Manufacturing Environmental Program Integration Lead, Amazon Manufacturing Operations, Transportation Operations

This role sits within the MOTO Environmental organization and is responsible for defining the strategy and owning the execution of every operational system that enables the MOTO Environmental team to function. You are the architect and senior owner: the person who sets the vision for program infrastructure, drives cross-organizational alignment, and ensures the backbone of MOTO's environmental compliance scales with the organization's most aggressive growth assumptions.

A defining emphasis of this role is strategic program ownership through infrastructure development and cross-org influence. You will not only build scalable compliance infrastructure - you will define what that infrastructure should look like, make the case for it across senior stakeholders, and lead others to execute it. You will develop the repeatable playbooks, program architecture, and governance mechanisms required to support rapid facility expansion, and you will mentor junior team members and operate independently in ambiguous, high-stakes program environments where the answer is not always clear.

You will drive cross-organizational influence across Manufacturing Operations, Real Estate & Facilities, Legal, Supply Chain, and Sustainability teams - aligning program priorities and building durable systems that outlast any individual initiative. This role has three onsite locations: Seattle, WA; IAD (Herndon, VA); and CVG (Florence, KY)

Key job responsibilities

1. Leadership, Strategy & Commitment - Define and drive the program strategy for MOTO Environmental compliance infrastructure - setting the multi-year roadmap for legal registers, EMS configuration, RACI governance, SOP library, and MBR/WBR reporting, and building organizational alignment around that strategy at senior leadership levels. Champion environmental program scalability within MOTO at the organizational level - advocating for and securing investment in systems and playbooks that grow with the organization rather than requiring manual replication at every new facility. Operate independently in ambiguous, high-stakes program environments - defining the path forward when requirements are unclear, escalating and resolving issues at the appropriate level, and driving decisions without requiring escalation to senior leadership for routine program matters.

2. Infrastructure Development & New Site Activation - Develop and own the strategic architecture for scalable environmental compliance infrastructure that supports rapid new site activations - including new-site environmental onboarding playbooks, pre-activation compliance checklists, and activation-to-steady-state transition frameworks. Create and maintain repeatable Manufacturing build playbooks covering environmental compliance milestones, permitting sequences, EMS setup procedures, waste program initialization - enabling each successive build phase to launch faster and with higher compliance confidence.

3. Compliance Systems & EMS Platform Management - Own and manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) integration - including site hierarchy configuration, data field architecture, compliance task setup, recurrence scheduling, assignment logic, and notification management. Manage training record architecture within EMS - configuring training curricula, completion tracking, and reporting for all MOTO environmental training programs. Serve as the system administrator and primary point of contact for EMS across the MOTO team, coordinating with platform vendors on configuration changes, upgrades, and issue resolution.

4. SOP Library & Standard Work Documentation - Define the structure, scope, and maintenance cadence for the MOTO Environmental SOP library - including waste management procedures, emergency response plans, construction environmental monitoring protocols, and site activation checklists - and hold organizational accountability for library completeness and currency. Ensure all SOPs are reviewed on a defined cadence, updated to reflect regulatory changes, and versioned and distributed to applicable sites.

5. Vendor Qualification & Oversight Programs - Develop and maintain MOTO environmental vendor qualification criteria and procurement standards - including waste haulers, TSD facilities, third-party auditors, and environmental consultants. Manage the vendor qualification and periodic re-qualification process, ensuring all active environmental vendors meet MOTO standards for regulatory compliance, insurance coverage, and performance history. Develop environmental procurement language standards and vendor qualification templates that can be applied to new vendors during site activations.

6. Global Template Development & Regional Coordination - Develop and maintain global environmental compliance templates - including emergency response plans, spill response protocols, construction environmental monitoring checklists, and training curriculum frameworks - that EMEA-EM, APAC-EM, and site-level PMs execute locally. Coordinate with EMEA-EM and APAC-EM to ensure global templates are regionally adaptable without requiring redevelopment from scratch at each international location.

7. Cross-Functional Integration & Collaboration - Drive cross-functional integration between MOTO Environmental and Manufacturing Operations, Real Estate & Facilities, Legal, Supply Chain, and Sustainability teams - influencing without authority at senior levels to ensure environmental program infrastructure is aligned with organizational requirements and embedded in business processes. Interface with Global Environmental Programs to ensure MOTO program infrastructure is compatible with enterprise-level systems and reporting requirements, without duplicating scope. Collaborate with MOTO-ECPM and site-level PMs to identify infrastructure gaps that require SOP development, calendar updates, or EMS reconfiguration. Manage SmartSheet and other program tracking tools across the MOTO Environmental team, ensuring consistent visibility into program status, milestone completion, and action ownership.

8. Performance Evaluation & Reporting - Establish and own a robust system for monitoring, measuring, and reporting performance of MOTO's environmental program infrastructure - defining the metrics framework and reporting architecture, not just executing against it. Develop and maintain environmental metrics dashboards for leadership visibility into compliance calendar completion rates, audit performance, vendor qualification status, EMS system health, and SOP currency. Prepare and contribute to performance reports and recommendations for senior leadership on a regular MBR/WBR cadence.

A day in the life

A typical day might begin with a review of Environmental program health and task completion data across all active MOTO sites, followed by a working session with a direct report to advance the SOP library - coaching on both technical content and how to build organizational buy-in for a new compliance framework. Mid-morning might involve a cross-functional alignment meeting with Manufacturing Operations and Real Estate to resolve a scope boundary question that is blocking the new-site activation playbook, requiring you to influence senior stakeholders without authority and drive a decision in the room.

In the afternoon, you might work with the MOTO Environmental Team on the technical content for a global emergency response plan template destined for EMEA deployment, then close the day by preparing a brief for the Sr. Global Programs Director on the Q3 audit program performance and a recommendation to adjust the audit cadence for Tier 1 sites. You are simultaneously managing the present - ensuring the existing compliance calendar is accurate and all vendor re-qualifications are current - and designing the future: the playbooks, governance structures, and system configurations that will enable the next five site activations to launch faster and more compliantly than any before.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of increasingly responsible roles in safety and/or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, service operations, or other relevant experience

- Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments, environmental permit evaluations and applications, EIAs and water discharge requirements

- Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws

- Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship

- Experience building launch readiness frameworks, standard work, playbooks, and scalable deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites, or experience in reliability/maintenance environments

- Experience working in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, or experience communicating complex information and solutions to senior stakeholders and influencing decisions

- 7+ years of progressive experience in environmental compliance program development, EMS platform management, audit program design, and multi-site compliance infrastructure, with demonstrated growth in scope and organizational influence

- Experience building environmental compliance programs from scratch in new organizational contexts - defining the program architecture, securing stakeholder alignment, and executing to operational readiness
