Job Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for production line support.  This includes monitoring process efficiencies and developing manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares Engineering Change Orders for processes, components, routers, and bill of materials.
  • Generates and modifies manufacturing process documentation.
  • Responsible to determine methods and sequence of test operations. Working knowledge of how a sensor is tested, performance of the fixture and functionality of the overall test process. Provide correlation between multiple fixtures for the same process step.
  • Monitor resulting output of complex automated alignment, calibration and verification fixtures to judge the conformance to process control plans.
  • Understands manufacturing concepts like Value Stream Mapping, 6S, and Visual Workplace to improve quality, labor efficiency and throughput.
  • Utilizes analytical skills to identify, participate in, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve SQDC.
  • Collaborate with development engineers to provide input in fixture development
  • Production support and process validation.
  • Utilizes tools like Gage, R&R, Cp, Cpk, and SPC to improve processes.
  • Assists in the design and implementation of tooling fixtures for inspection and assembly of product.
  • Troubleshoots manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Resolves and/or facilitates resolution of problems including identifying causes to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Manage projects involving members of various departments to establish, document, and achieve project milestones.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS in engineering required – mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, and sciences.
  • Experience in optomechanical/electromechanical assembly operations preferred.
  • An understanding of optics, cameras & other sensing electronics preferred.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience required.
  • 4 years’ experience working with (design/manufacture of) Capital Equipment is preferred.
  • Lean / Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience with SAP ERP system preferred

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge on how to implement Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficient in engineering software (Creo and MATLAB, and MiniTab)
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical decision-making ability.
  • Able to define and lead Design of Experiments (DOE) projects.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork within department as well as external groups, e.g. new product development, production, purchasing, quality.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to leadership, peers, and other employees of the organization

The base pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
