Role Overview

Working on our manufacturing team and closely with our design engineering team, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Assembly is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on practical jet engine assembly, industry best practices, and Design for Assembly activities. The right candidate must have a strong mechanical aptitude and practical manufacturing attitude suitable for volume production.

What You'll Do...

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on practical jet engine assembly, industry best practices, and Design for Assembly activities
  • Tooling and Equipment: Design, specify and select manufacturing tools, equipment, and machinery required for aerospace assembly processes
  • Process Development: Use tools like FMEA and Process Flow Diagrams to design and optimize manufacturing assembly processes for aerospace component and systems, considering factors such as materials, machinery, tooling, and labor. Develop and oversee prototype manufacturing, testing and validation processes to ensure that aerospace components meet design specifications and performance requirements
  • Design for Assembly: work with design team to produce designs that are ready for manufacturing and assembling efficiently
  • Manufacturing Planning: Create assembly process plans, standard work instructions, partner with operations to coordinate resources, and monitor progress to meet project requirements and deadlines
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control manufacturing costs by improving processes, reducing waste, and making cost-effective decisions regarding materials, equipment, and labor
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement process improvements, automation, and lean manufacturing techniques to enhance efficiency and reduce production errors
  • Collaborative Work: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, quality control specialists, and production operators, to address issues and ensure smooth production operations
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve production issues, such as defects, machine malfunctions, or process inconsistencies, to maintain a smooth production flow
  • Risk Management: Identify and address potential risks in the manufacturing process and develop contingency plans to mitigate them

You have...

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution
  • 2+ years of hands-on jet engine assembly or maintenance (tear-down/re-build) experience
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes and the creation of part instructions
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings, and models effectively
  • Experience in adapting equipment or tooling designs to meet factory and production requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong workload management and follow-up capabilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across all levels within and outside the organization
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Availability to work extended hours during machine outages or critical activities
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice to have:

  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Solidworks, Siemens NX, CAM, Teamcenter, or similar systems
  • Prior engagement in startup environments
  • Experience in AS9100 certified facilities
  • Competence in new manufacturing process development for prototypes and volume production

In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $125,000-$135,000 base salary. Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
