What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Regulatory Initiatives, will support Wealth Management's Operational Risk management leadership with expertise, strategy, advice and counsel to lead and manage regulatory change and risk-based initiatives primarily for WM. This includes the design and execution of regulatory programs which will include: risk and control identification/assessment, change management, risk reviews on the operational risk impact of major change initiatives, process improvements and transformational projects. The Senior Manager will support implementing the organization's strategic efforts to comply with governmental and other regulatory mandates and to identify and adopt best practices regarding organizational governance.

What will you do?
  • Assist the Director in leading and executing Regulatory initiatives WM and provide regular reporting
  • Support WM Regulatory Initiatives in managing new and on-going cross segment or cross line of business Regulatory Initiatives, or other specific WM risk initiatives
  • Provide ongoing updates and reporting to the Senior Director, Head of Regulatory Initiatives in managing Operational Risk, Regulatory and Governance strategic priorities
  • Act as a center of excellence for education and advocacy of information on RBC's operational risk management practices and programs, leading to embedding an operational risk mindset in the business.
  • Develop and execute on project plans, including influencing stakeholder buy-in on action plans
  • Responsible for executing the WM Cross-Border program activities and executive reporting
  • Responsible for preparing management requested reports for senior executives and management team within WM and enabling strategic decision making


What do you need to succeed?

Must haves:
  • 5-7 years experience in regulatory reporting, operational risk practices, audit or compliance functions.
  • Financial services sector experience and knowledge of the wealth management and asset management businesses.
  • Experience in project management or experience in executing structured changes. Able to develop and move projects forward with independence and autonomy.
  • Advanced level MS PowerPoint skills to create engaging presentation materials.
  • Strong collaboration skills, including working in a cross-functional environment. Excellent communication, business writing and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced and changing environment and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and consistency and accuracy in output.


Nice-to-have:
  • Knowledge of securities law and regulatory environment for financial institutions in Canada.
