What is the opportunity?

Ready to make an immediate impact on RBC Insurance's portfolio delivery? If you're someone who sees what needs to happen and makes it happen, this is the role for you.

As a Journey Portfolio Manager, you will have the opportunity to develop your emerging project management capabilities and partner closely with the Product Management team, ensure successful planning and execution of prioritized work for RBC Insurance. You'll coordinate priorities, manage financials, track progress, and keep stakeholders informed-working with autonomy on work that directly affects our business outcomes, and you will support our agile transformation roadmap and strategy execution.

This mid-level role requires a self-starter who has demonstrated ability to make the complex simple, organize the messy, leveraging business project management capabilities, coupled with a strong drive to impact and thought leadership skills.

What will you do?
  • Own financial leadership: Responsible for accurate and comprehensive financial management by tracking forecasted and actual spend, invoice processing, and reporting
  • Mitigate risk with foresight: Participate in Release Train ceremonies, collaborate with squads to identify dependencies and delivery risks. You'll think ahead, facilitate tough conversations, and unlock synergies across roadmaps and WIP aligned to OKRs.
  • Partner strategically with Product Management: Provide planning support, stakeholder coordination, and administrative leadership with Digital Product Managers and Release Train Engineers across PI Planning, ART Syncs, and ceremonies. Think critically about roadmap alignment, while identifying and escalating risks early.
  • Facilitate Vendor Development Engagements: Provide oversight and leadership of vendor engagements, ensuring execution tracks to plan, providing leadership to resolve challenges
  • Elevate how we work: Using an Agile mindset, identify inefficiencies and capability gaps, offer innovative solutions, embed best practices, and ensure governance compliance to improve delivery outcomes
  • Business Readiness and Go to Market: Provide oversight, guidance, coordination of business readiness activities and ensure governance requirements are met
  • Build effective partnerships: Work across squads, vendors, and business stakeholders to resolve blockers, manage dependencies, and ensure business readiness


What will you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • Self-starter with a Drive to Impact / Results Oriented approach
  • 1-3 years Project Management or Agile experience
  • Strategic mindset with demonstrated ability to lead change
  • Strong understanding of, and experience with, RBC Insurance's Agile Operating Model, Digital Risk management frameworks and tools (e.g. Planview, Jira, Confluence)
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated impact and influence and conflict resolution skills
  • Intermediate MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
