The Role

The Senior Manager, Wealth Management Finance is responsible for leading the financial planning, analysis, reporting, and consolidation activities for Canadian Wealth Management business lines within Global Wealth Management. This role is accountable for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of monthly and quarterly financial results, forecasts, annual profit plans, and strategic planning submissions. The incumbent provides actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making and plays a key role in the preparation of management reporting, board materials, and executive presentations. The Senior Manager works closely with business leaders and Finance partners to drive financial performance, enhance reporting capabilities, and support strategic initiatives across Canadian Wealth Management. This role also oversees complex consolidation activities and the operationalization of reporting processes, ensuring consistency, transparency, and efficiency across the organization.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be involved in:

1. Direct and manage annual Profit Plan and forecast processes for Canadian Wealth Management from a consolidation perspective:
• Ensure timely submission of Annual Profit Plan for both CWM business lines including analysis of all major revenue and expense categories.
• Maintain/enhance the planning tools distributed to the Businesses for capturing detailed submissions and the analysis of all major revenue and expense categories.
• Prepare quarterly, whole year revenue and expense forecasts for submission to Global Wealth Management and Finance.
• Prepare the annual 5 Year Strategic Plan.

2. Direct and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial management reporting, maintaining effective control in place and ensuring timely and accurate information being reported to Finance & GWM Management:
• Direct the preparation and consolidation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results.
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting of business performance, key metrics, and financial commentary to Wealth Management and Finance leadership.
• Analyze variances against plan, forecast, and prior year performance and provide meaningful business insights.
• Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities impacting business results.
• Deliver financial and operational reporting packages to senior executives and stakeholders.
• Coordinate the preparation of the monthly business line operating results, business line metrics & performance reports.
• Complete quarterly MMR/Blue Book along with various Revenue & Expense reporting, variance analysis, and commentary for submission to Finance & GWM Senior Management.
• Coordinate the preparation of executive presentations, management review materials, quarterly business reviews, and board reporting packages.
• Ensure consistency and alignment of financial information across multiple business lines and support functions.
• Enhance reporting processes and governance controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems, databases, and reporting processes that support financial reporting, including reducing reliance on complex spreadsheets through system enhancements.

3. Provide strong leadership by:
• Ensuring expectations including accountabilities, objectives and goals are effectively negotiated, communicated and monitored for direct report(s)
• Ensuring employee development plans are in place and completing performance reviews for all direct report(s)
• Ensuring there is fair and equitable treatment of employees in keeping with the bank's guidelines and principles
• Ensuring that performance/conduct issues are effectively dealt with through proper and prompt documentation/discussion, escalating when appropriate
• Creating and encouraging open lines of communication for all staff and that they are aware of the Chain of Communication
• Designing, establishing and maintaining an organizational structure and staffing strategy to effectively accomplish the department's goals and objectives.

4. Business Partnership
• Act as a trusted Finance advisor to Wealth Management business leaders, finance partners and support partners.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to evaluate strategic initiatives, business cases, investments, and operational changes.
• Translate complex financial information into actionable recommendations for decision-making.
• Foster strong working relationships across Finance, Wealth Management, and corporate support functions

5. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Professional accounting designation or MBA
• Minimum of three years work experience at a management level position within the Financial Services Industry.
• Advanced knowledge of financial accounting and IFRS.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI, Hyperion, Smart View, OBI, Anaplan, or similar financial systems.
• Knowledge of Wealth Management structure, products and business operations would be an asset.
• In-depth knowledge of BNS planning & reporting processes
• Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial and operational information
• Ability to work independently, and as a key partner with business heads.
• The incumbent must be a self-starter, well organized with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
