Full Job Description
What You'll Be Doing:

The US AML Advisory, Senior Manager is responsible for providing guidance and advice to the US Commercial Lines of Business. Manager will assess AML risks associated with new products, prospective customers, transactions, higher-risk relationships, and evaluate control effectiveness to ensure appropriate management of risks.

How You'll Succeed:
  • Actively manage oversight of certain aspects of the AML Compliance internal control framework
  • Manage Advisory-owned email mailboxes
  • Partner engagement with lines of business
  • Support BSA/AML-related audits and regulatory exams
  • Support the Compliance and EAML Examination Program (CEEP)
  • Assist with projects and initiatives, providing advice and guidance where necessary
  • Review and facilitate Restricted Client/Vendor approval requests to the US CAMLO
  • Review and provide effective challenge to Business Unit Risk Control Self-Assessments
  • Review and provide effective challenge to 1LoD procedures, especially with respect to ML/TF controls and red flag identification and escalation
  • Understand 1LoD performance of Key Controls, results of Key Controls testing related to ML/TF
  • Partner with 1LoD to identify and formally raise deficiencies observed during oversight activities
  • Provide 1LoD guidance in understanding inherent ML/TF risk exposure, and evaluating how internal and external changes impact inherent ML/TF risk exposure, to understand sufficiency of the control environment
  • Provide guidance to 1LoD in determining action plans, as appropriate, monitor 1LoD's progress against action


Who You Are:
  • Undergraduate degree in business or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certification preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience interpreting and implementing financial services regulatory programs, preferably related to anti-money laundering and/or enterprise risk management.
  • Knowledge of US AML laws and regulations as well as familiarity with US Sanctions programs.
  • Understanding of financial services operations, infrastructure and payment processing.
  • Experience with commercial banking preferred.
  • Judgment and problem-solving skills in order to provide input and advice to lines of business (LoBs) on risk management controls.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory issues in order to provide sound guidance.
  • Interpersonal and relationship management skills to build trust amongst all stakeholders and work collaboratively with LoBs.
  • Time management skills and ability to prioritize and manage competing/demanding priorities and work on multiple projects simultaneously

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $120,000 - $145,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
