Ancestry is searching for a strategic and highly motivated leader to join our corporate tax department as a Senior Manager of Tax. This critical role serves as a key pillar for our global tax function, driving high-impact tax planning, technical compliance, and transactional readiness. Working closely with executive tax leadership, this individual will run our core provision and compliance frameworks while directly managing, mentoring, and developing members of the tax team. What you will do...
Strategic Planning & Cash Optimization: Identify and implement strategic tax planning initiatives that significantly decrease cash taxes. Additionally, lead domestic due diligence efforts and technical preparation related to any corporate transactions.
Audit Defense & Dispute Resolution: Manage, defend, and negotiate favorable settlements for complex corporate tax audits across numerous federal, state, and local jurisdictions, serving as the primary strategic point of contact for external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Legislative Monitoring & Mitigation Planning: Track and assess the financial impact of evolving tax legislation changes across all domestic jurisdictions for both direct and indirect taxes, developing and implementing proactive mitigation plans to minimize impact to the company.
Tax Provision & SOX Compliance: Reviewing quarterly and annual corporate tax provisions (ASC 740) and serving as the primary reviewer and owner for US tax internal controls. Ensuring absolute precision, accuracy, and documentation completeness in our control environment.
US Tax Compliance Oversight: Directing and reviewing the accurate preparation and timely filing of all US federal, state, and local corporate tax returns, incorporating business context and evolving legislative updates.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Partnering with and guiding the day-to-day work of members of our tax team. Actively coach team members to enhance their technical capabilities and optimize overall departmental execution
Who you are
Experience: 7 610+ years of corporate tax experience, preferably with a proven mix of public accounting and corporate industry environments.
Education & Credentials: Bachelors degree in Accounting; a CPA license and/or Masters in Taxation is highly preferred.
Technical Expertise: Strong technical proficiency in ASC 740 corporate tax accounting principles and US federal, state, and local tax compliance.
Audit & Legislative Scrutiny: Demonstrated success navigating and resolving audits, with strong capabilities in technical research across both direct (income) and indirect (sales/use) tax frameworks.
SOX Frameworks: Hands-on experience executing, documenting, and managing internal controls within a public company SOX compliance framework.
Professional Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of coaching junior staff and translating complex tax concepts for broader business departments.
Systems (Preferred): Familiarity with corporate tax software (e.g., ONESOURCE, Corptax) and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) is a plus.

As a signatory of the ParityPledge in Support of Women and the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, Ancestry values pay transparency and pay equity. We are pleased to share the base salary range for this position: $132,620 - $165,780 with eligibility for bonus, equity and comprehensive benefits including health, dental and vision.
