Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The Senior Manager, Strategic Engagement and Support will contribute to the success of RBC Thought Leadership by providing comprehensive research, stakeholder engagement, and strategic support to leadership advancing key platforms including geopolitics & trade, energy, housing, disruptive technologies, and human capital. This dynamic role combines stakeholder engagement, strategic calendar planning, research excellence and leadership support-ensuring the team has the insights, data, and strategic support needed to inform policy conversation, engage decision makers, and drive meaningful action. You'll work at the intersection of policy, industry, and innovation, serving as a critical support to the team leader. This is an excellent opportunity to shape Canada's economic future while building strong relationships with government, Indigenous communities, academic institutions, industry leaders, and internal RBC teams.
What will you do?- Provide strategic support to leadership - Prepare comprehensive briefing notes, presentations, talking points, and strategic analyses for speaking engagements; scout and identify meaningful external events, partnerships, and opportunities where Thought Leadership should have a voice and presence
- Lead stakeholder engagement - Develop and execute external engagement strategies with policy makers, Indigenous leaders, business executives, academic institutions, and industry groups to advance RBC's thought leadership platform and deepen the team's relationships with key stakeholders.
- Manage strategic calendar planning - Work with leadership to coordinate and plan strategic engagements, events, roundtables, and partnership initiatives; ensure alignment across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support research and strategic analysis - Conduct in-depth research on key priority areas and emerging issues; synthesize complex information; develop strategic briefings that inform leadership and the team's decision-making
- Support presentation and content development - Collaborate on developing compelling presentations, briefing materials, and thought leadership content that communicate research findings and strategic insights to executive and external audiences
- Support program strategy and execution - Collaborate with program teams to provide data-driven insights, research foundations, and strategic guidance that inform program strategy, execution, and stakeholder engagement
- Ensure alignment & awareness - Keep internal RBC teams informed of key research findings, stakeholder developments, and strategic priorities; work across organizational silos to seek alignment on initiatives
What do you need to succeed?Must-have:- ~6--10 years of experience in strategic program development, partnerships, business strategy, program management, public affairs, government relations, or management consulting in large matrix organizations
- Exceptional analytical and research skills with ability to synthesize complex information into clear strategic recommendations
- Strong ability to prepare concise and timely research briefings and presentations for an executive audience
- Excellent communications skills with ability to confidently influence and provide strategic guidance to senior leaders
- Strong skills building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders, academic institutions, and subject matter experts
- Proven ability to manage multiple strategic engagements and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Highly adaptable with strong ability to prioritize competing requests; embrace change; and demonstrate diplomacy, professionalism, and positivity
- Strategic and innovative thinker passionate about tackling Canada's most pressing challenges and driving prosperity
Nice-to-have:- Undergraduate degree or post-graduate certificate in public policy, economics, communications, public relations, or related field
- Experience in policy research, think tank environments, or government relations
- Experience in a large, global leading financial institution or consulting firm
- Digital and social media savvy with strong grasp of the evolving digital media landscape and marketing trends
