Purpose

The Senior Manager, Finance is a key contributor supporting the Scotia Global Asset Management (SGAM) Finance Team and business partners. This role reports to a seasoned Senior Manager and operates as part of a broader SGAM Finance leadership team. The position is designed as a high-impact individual contributor with strong execution ownership, while working closely with the reporting manager on prioritization, stakeholder alignment, and delivery of key initiatives. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and planning support for assigned business areas. The incumbent works closely with business partners and finance stakeholders to provide insights that support decision-making and financial performance, while partnering with their manager on prioritization, deliverables, and stakeholder alignment. The role is positioned as a hands-on, execution-focused Senior Manager, with accountability for core financial processes and deliverables, and an expectation to contribute to continuous improvement and team objectives. While direct people management is not a primary requirement at the outset, the role provides a pathway to develop leadership capabilities and take on broader team responsibilities over time. With the support of their Direct Manager, the Senior Manager is responsible for providing financial insight to the business lines partners (internal and external views), management and coordination of planning within Asset Management, and improves the financial production effectiveness. This role also provides comprehensive financial review, analysis and evaluation of various business unit's financial performance. In addition, the Senior Manager, is also responsible for managing the - (1) monthly / quarterly reporting, (2) development of the annual financial plans, (3) quarterly forecasts for the business, (4) compensation program for SGAM The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining and continuous improvement of the management reporting system for Scotia Global Asset Management Finance and to support finance-related issues for the division.

  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

Responsible for all aspects of business line reporting, which includes, but not limited to:
  • Own the preparation and delivery of assigned business line and product-level reporting, including analysis of sales, redemptions, and market trends
  • Provide clear and actionable insights to support business performance discussions
  • Deliver accurate and timely ad-hoc analysis in response to stakeholder requests
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across reporting outputs


  1. Monthly and Quarterly Reporting

Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and annual financial management reporting, maintaining effective controls and ensuring that timely and accurate information is reported to Senior Management
  • Prepare and manage monthly/quarterly financial reporting for assigned areas
  • Analyze actual results against plan, forecast, and prior periods, with clear variance commentary
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly dashboards and management reporting materials for senior leadership and department heads
  • Contribute to key deliverables (e.g., variance analysis, quarterly reporting packages, etc.)
  • Coordinate data collection and consolidation across stakeholders
  • Presentation and communication of monthly / quarterly results to business heads
  • Establish and maintain systems to efficiently manage the reporting process


  1. Planning & Forecasting

Manage the annual profit planning & quarterly and multi-year forecasting for the business lines. Contribute to the annual profit plan, by meeting with department heads and further developing current
  • Manage components of the annual profit plan and quarterly forecast processes for assigned business lines
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather inputs and validate assumptions
  • Perform analysis to assess forecast accuracy and identify risks and opportunities
  • Maintain and enhance financial models and forecasting methodologies
  • Complete profit plan analysis and presentation deck to senior management team
  • Complete analytical review to:

(a) Ensure completeness and reasonability of forecast, provide viable solutions to issues raised

(b) Understand the relevant performance of the business to base forecast
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of information - profit plan, quarterly update and full year forecast. For forecasting purposes, recommend financial models and inputs, set appropriate drivers or strategic benchmarks.


  1. Compensation Program for SGAM

Manage the compensation program for SGAM:
  • Variable compensation plan oversight, governance, and modeling.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annually performance incentive measures for key business partners, including accountability for calculating, reporting and forecasting of various incentive compensation plans.


  1. Business Partnering
  • Develop effective working relationships with business and finance stakeholders
  • Provide analytical support and insights to inform business decisions
  • Conduct industry and competitive analysis to support financial perspectives


  1. Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial processes, reporting, and tools
  • Contribute to initiatives that enhance efficiency, automation, and data quality
  • Leverage best practices to improve the effectiveness of financial processes


  1. Risk Management & Controls
  • Maintain adherence to financial policies, procedures, and reporting standards
  • Support a strong control environment, including data quality and accuracy
  • Identify and escalate potential risks related to financial processes or reporting


  1. Team Contribution & Development
  • Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment
  • Provide guidance and informal mentorship to junior team members, as appropriate
  • Support the Senior Manager with deliverables, prioritization, and ad-hoc initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional work streams
