Raw materials are at the core of lululemon's innovation and guest experience. From iconic fabrics like nulu™ to the latest breakthroughs in performance and sustainability, the Raw Materials Development team is responsible for creating the next generation of fabric franchises while keeping our assortments fresh with seasonal newness. As a member of this team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to bring materials from concept to commercialization ensuring that quality, performance, sustainability, and aesthetic excellence are considered at every stage of development.

core responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Raw Materials Developers and Senior Developers, establishing clear goals, providing regular feedback, and optimizing technical and professional capability across the team.
  • Oversee the development and commercialization of fabrics across multiple categories and business units, ensuring delivery against technical, quality, sustainability, and aesthetic standards.
  • Partner with Design, Product Development, Sourcing, and other cross-functional teams to align raw material strategies with product creation priorities and go-to-market timelines.
  • Manage team capacity and workflow across seasonal development calendars, proactively identifying and resolving risks to milestone delivery.
  • Maintain and deepen relationships with key mill and supplier partners, monitoring capabilities, performance, and innovation pipelines to inform sourcing and development decisions.
  • Champion sustainability integration within the team, ensuring preferred, circular, and low-impact materials are meaningfully embedded in seasonal and long-range strategies.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex development challenges, guiding teams through root cause analysis and solution development.
  • Contribute to the evolution of raw material processes, tools, and workflows to improve team efficiency and output quality.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts in partnership with People & Culture to build a high-performing raw materials team.
qualifications
  • University or college degree in Textile Science, Material Science, or a related field. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • 8-10+ years of textile industry experience, including fabric development, manufacturing, or technical design, with a track record of progressive responsibility.
  • 5+ years of people management or formal team leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to develop talent and drive team performance.
  • Deep technical knowledge of textile manufacturing processes including fiber, yarn, fabric construction, dyeing, finishing, and printing.
  • Proven experience working directly with global mill and supplier partners, including travel to manufacturing regions.
  • Strong understanding of sustainable and circular materials, certifications, traceability, and environmental impact considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex development calendars across multiple tracks, balancing competing priorities and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and platforms for material development, tracking, and data management.

compensation and benefits package

lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and teamperformance. Thetypical hiring range for this position is from$ 167,400-219,700 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
