What you'll be doing

As a member of CIBC's team, the Senior Manager, Project Delivery and Operations is a seasoned leader responsible for overseeing both the day-to-day operational execution and project delivery activities for a portfolio of initiatives and team functions. This role is accountable for ensuring work is effectively prioritized, governed, and executed, while maintaining strong controls, operational discipline, and alignment to business objectives. The Senior Manager, Project Delivery and Operations work with minimal direction and applies deep expertise to lead a combination of project management, intake management, financial oversight, team coordination, and continuous process improvement activities. The role ensures incoming work is properly assessed, prioritized, and assigned, while monitoring capacity, timelines, budgets, risks, and outcomes across both project-based and business-as-usual work. This leader establishes and maintains strong relationships with business partners, senior management, and delivery teams, and provides clear reporting, guidance, and escalation support to ensure work progresses efficiently and transparently. In addition, the role supervises day-to-day team activities, drives accountability, and identifies opportunities to improve processes, controls, and service delivery effectiveness.

How you'll succeed

  • Project Delivery Leadership - Lead the execution of projects and operational work by defining goals, scope, timelines, resource requirements, and delivery plans. Ensure work is managed effectively across competing priorities and aligned to business needs. Intake and Prioritization Management - Oversee the intake of new work requests, assess requirements, triage demand, and establish prioritization in partnership with key stakeholders. Ensure work is appropriately sized, assigned, and sequenced based on strategic value, urgency, and team capacity.
  • Operational Supervision - Supervise day-to-day team activities to ensure work is progressing as expected, issues are addressed promptly, and deliverables meet quality, timing, and control standards. Provide direction, remove roadblocks, and reinforce accountability across the team and Financial Oversight - Manage budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and ongoing financial tracking for projects and operational activities. Monitor actuals against plan, identify variances, and support sound financial decision-making.
  • Process Improvement - Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of existing practices, workflows, and controls. Identify improvement opportunities and implement changes that enhance productivity, transparency, service quality, and stakeholder experience. Risk and Issue Management - Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and issues affecting delivery or operations, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts to scope, timelines, budget, or service quality.


Who you are

  • You can demonstrate strong experience inproject management with minimum 5 years of experience in project management, delivery leadership, or operations management, ideally within the financial services or technology industry, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a matrix environment while balancing strategic project delivery and day-to-day operational oversight. You have strong experience in intake management and work prioritization, with the ability to manage demand, assess incoming requests, align work to capacity, and ensure high-priority initiatives are executed effectively. You also demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, regularly evaluating processes and workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing practical enhancements that strengthen execution and stakeholder outcomes. In addition, you bring strong people leadership capabilities, including supervising day-to-day work, setting clear expectations, coaching team members, and driving accountability for results. You have sound knowledge of project delivery methodologies, including waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches, as well as familiarity with the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) where applicable.
  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study. It's an asset if you have your PMP designation.
