POSITION SUMMARYThe Senior Manager, MQ and ACE Engineering is responsible for leading the strategy, architecture, delivery, operations, and continuous evolution of enterprise messaging and integration platforms, including IBM MQ and IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).. The Senior Manager, MQ and ACE Engineering oversees engineering teams responsible for platform reliability, integration services, automation, security, governance, and operational excellence across mission-critical enterprise environments. The Senior Manager, MQ and ACE Engineering partners closely with Application Engineering, Infrastructure, Cloud Platform, Security, and Enterprise Architecture leaders to define and execute the integration platform strategy and roadmap. This role is accountable for delivering secure, scalable, highly available, and cost-efficient messaging and integration services that enable enterprise connectivity, digital transformation, and application modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in IBM MQ and ACE with strong leadership capabilities, operational excellence, and a proven ability to lead high-performing teams, influence stakeholders, and deliver complex enterprise platform initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead the engineering, operations, modernization, and continuous improvement of enterprise IBM MQ and IBM ACE platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
- Define and execute the MQ and ACE platform strategy, roadmap, standards, and governance in partnership with engineering, infrastructure, security, and architecture stakeholders.
- Drive platform automation, operational efficiency, performance optimization, capacity planning, disaster recovery readiness, and continuous service improvement through modern engineering practices.
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
- Manage strategic vendor relationships, support models, technology lifecycle planning, and delivery of complex enterprise integration initiatives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- 7+ years supporting enterprise integration, middleware, messaging, or platform engineering environments within large-scale organizations.
- 5+ years leading engineering, platform, infrastructure, or technology teams with accountability for delivery, operations, and talent development.
- 5+ years administering, architecting, and optimizing IBM MQ environments, including performance tuning, resiliency, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- 4+ years designing, developing, and supporting IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) or IBM Integration Bus (IIB) solutions across complex enterprise integration landscapes.
- 3+ years implementing high-availability architectures, disaster recovery capabilities, DevOps automation, CI/CD practices, and hybrid or cloud-based integration platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud and hybrid integration environments.
- Knowledge of Kafka, IBM Event Streams, API management platforms, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container-based integration architectures.
- Experience leading platform modernization, automation, and operational transformation initiatives within large enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with Agile, SAFe, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and modern platform engineering practices.
- IBM MQ, ACE, cloud, or other relevant technical certifications.
EDUCATIONBachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED plus 4 years of relevant experience).
Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:
$106,605.00 - $260,590.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
