Full Job Description
Senior Manager, Leadership Development & Advanced Training – Auto Sales (Hybrid)

The Capital One Auto Sales Center of Excellence is an innovation focused organization that is designed to out-pace the market. We are not looking for someone to manage a content factory, we are recruiting a proven L&D leader who can run at our speed and deliver world-class leadership development and advanced sales training to our 800 sales professionals who serve 18,000 dealerships nationwide.

As an equal partner in achieving world-class performance, you and your team will be held to the same, measurable performance standards as our sales organization. You will manage multiple direct reports while remaining close to the craft to design, build, and deliver high-impact learning across all media. Your ultimate mandate is to move beyond traditional training, leveraging emerging learning technologies, simulator/digital training systems, and AI-driven solutions to deliver "in the flow of work" learning that delivers measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead the Team: Direct, mentor, and elevate a high-performing team of learning and development professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and bold leadership.

  • Strategic Alignment: Serve as the primary learning partner to executive leadership within Auto Sales, aligning advanced training strategies with complex sales objectives, cycles, and methodologies.

  • Program Analysis and Turnaround: Diagnose, restructure, and elevate underperforming or legacy learning programs across large organizational cohorts to drive rapid operational readiness and performance gains.

  • Business Accountability: Partner with Sales Leadership to establish KPIs and metrics to measure the explicit ROI of learning initiatives.

Advanced Instructional Design & Delivery

  • Architect the Learning Ecosystem: Oversee the development of critical leadership development and continuous learning paths for both Outside Sales (field-based) and Inside Sales (phone-based) teams.

  • Modernize the Classroom: Turn live and virtual classes into high-impact workshops where sales professionals spend time practicing skills and receiving feedback rather than sitting through lectures.

  • In-the-Flow Learning: Create scalable, bite-sized micro-learning modules that live inside the structures where employees already work.

  • Omnichannel Execution: Design, build, and deliver high-impact learning across all modalities, including e-learning, virtual, in-person, and mobile platforms.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • At least 5 years of experience in Learning and Development.

  • At least 5 years of People Leadership experience managing direct reports.

  • At least 5 years of experience in relationship management or stakeholder collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in the 6 Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning

  • Experience with Hogan Personality Assessments

  • Master’s Degree

  • 5+ years of Project Management Experience

  • 2+ years of sales experience

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services, real estate, or highly regulated business environments
