Join Thermo Fisher Scientific as Senior Manager, Global Market Development within the Bioprocessing Filtration business unit. This highly visible leadership role will lead a team responsible for turning market insight into growth by defining market strategies, strengthening customer engagement, enabling the field, and accelerating adoption of filtration and purification technologies.

The Senior Manager will lead global market development for priority customer segments, applications, industries, geographies, channels, and adjacent markets. This role will translate customer, market, competitive, application, and regional insights into value propositions, positioning, commercial messaging, go-to-market plans, campaigns, launch support, demand-generation priorities, and sales enablement. The role will also provide market insight, opportunity sizing, customer requirements, adoption assumptions, and launch input to support new product introduction and business case development.

This leader will build a high-performing Global Market Development function with clear market strategies, strong regional activation, effective commercial tools, disciplined performance measurement, and measurable contribution to pipeline, adoption, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Market Growth Strategy
• Lead the global market development team for assigned customer segments, applications, industries, geographies, channels, and adjacent markets.
• Define market growth strategies that clarify where to grow, who to target, which customer needs matter most, and how to accelerate adoption.
• Define customer journeys, buying processes, adoption barriers, segment needs, and regional growth drivers to inform market strategy and commercial activation.
• Use market sizing, share analysis, growth rates, competitive intelligence, voice of customer, and customer insight to prioritize opportunities and support business planning.
• Provide market input for new product introduction and business case development, including opportunity sizing, target segments, customer needs, competitive alternatives, adoption barriers, channel requirements, and regional launch assumptions.
Go-to-Market Planning and Commercial Activation
• Lead global go-to-market planning for priority growth initiatives, product launches, application expansion, and market penetration programs.
• Develop commercial activation plans, including customer targeting, sales plays, value propositions, positioning, messaging, campaign priorities, launch plans, and enablement needs.
• Partner with commercial teams and regional leaders to ensure strategies are practical, field-ready, regionally relevant, and connected to customer workflows.
• Establish operating mechanisms to set targets, measure performance, improve return on marketing investment, and continuously refine go-to-market programs based on results.
• Guide multi-channel execution across digital, content, webinars, events, trade shows, and other customer engagement channels.
Value Proposition, Positioning, and Messaging
• Define customer value propositions, positioning, commercial messaging, and differentiation themes for priority segments, applications, and workflows.
• Translate technical capabilities and application benefits into clear customer-facing messages that improve sales effectiveness and customer adoption.
• Develop segment-specific and application-specific narratives that help customers understand how Thermo Fisher solutions address workflow, productivity, quality, risk, and cost challenges.
• Ensure messaging, content, claims, and customer-facing materials are aligned with brand standards, compliance requirements, and regional market needs.
Campaigns, Launch Support, and Field Enablement
• Lead market activation for product launches, growth initiatives, and strategic campaigns.
• Build demand-generation strategies to create qualified pipeline and accelerate customer adoption in target markets.
• Manage campaign priorities and promotional investments to optimize lead quality, pipeline contribution, customer engagement, and return on marketing investment.
• Develop commercial enablement tools, sales playbooks, training materials, customer presentations, competitive positioning, application stories, and proof points.
• Build relationships with customers, key opinion leaders, strategic partners, channel partners, and external collaborators to strengthen advocacy and market adoption.
• Establish feedback loops with field teams to understand customer response, competitor activity, lost opportunities, adoption barriers, and enablement gaps.
• Track campaign effectiveness, lead quality, opportunity creation, conversion, customer engagement, and launch impact.
Team and Cross-Functional Leadership
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Global Market Development team.
• Build capability in market insight, segmentation, positioning, messaging, go-to-market planning, campaign strategy, launch support, demand generation, digital execution, and field enablement.
• Provide global direction and matrix leadership for regional market development activities, ensuring global consistency while enabling regional adaptation.
• Drive alignment across commercial, application engineering, marketing, regional, strategy, and business teams.
• Foster a culture of customer focus, accountability, collaboration, speed, continuous improvement, and commercial impact.
Qualifications
Required Experience
• 10+ years of experience in market development, strategic marketing, product marketing, commercial strategy, business development, sales enablement, product management, or related roles within life sciences, bioprocessing, filtration, biopharma, or other technical business-to-business markets.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing market growth strategies, go-to-market plans, launch plans, demand-generation programs, and commercial enablement initiatives.
• Strong ability to translate customer, market, application, competitive, and regional insights into actionable commercial strategies.
• Experience with market sizing, segmentation, customer journeys, buying processes, campaign measurement, and commercial performance analysis.
• Experience supporting new product introduction, opportunity assessment, business case development, and commercialization planning for complex technical products.
• Experience developing value propositions, positioning, messaging, campaign strategies, sales tools, and customer-facing content for complex technical products.
• Proven ability to lead teams, build talent, and influence commercial, technical, marketing, regional, and senior leadership stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
• Strong analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills.
Preferred Experience
• Experience in bioprocessing, filtration, purification, single-use technologies, life sciences tools, biologics manufacturing, or related markets.
• Experience supporting global product launches, application expansion, regional market activation, and strategic account growth.
• Experience working with technical sales specialists, application engineering, field application scientists, or other technical commercial teams.
• Experience with commercial analytics, customer relationship management systems, Salesforce, digital marketing, marketing automation, campaign measurement, pipeline management, and return on investment analysis.
• Experience working with customers, key opinion leaders, strategic partners, channel partners, or external collaborators.
• Bachelor's degree required in life sciences, engineering, business, marketing, or related field; master's degree, Master of Business Administration, or advanced technical degree preferred.
Travel
• Ability to travel globally as needed, approximately 20-50%.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Minnesota is $118,100.00-$177,200.00.
