The Senior Manager, Enterprise AML Standards is accountable for policy development, advisory support, and the governance and continuous improvement of documentation supporting Scotiabank's AML/ATF and Sanctions Program. Operating within the second line of defence, the role provides documentation and policy advisory guidance, ensuring program documentation is clear, current, audit-ready, and aligned with regulatory requirements, enterprise policies, and risk management frameworks.

The incumbent reports to the Director, Regulatory Implementations (Canada), Enterprise AML Standards & Learning and works closely with a diverse set of stakeholders to strengthen the Global AML Program by improving documentation quality, clarifying expectations, supporting enterprise consistency, and simplifying program artefacts.

Enterprise AML Documentation Governance
  • Lead the governance, oversight, and continuous improvement of AML/ATF and Sanctions Program documentation, including policy development and advisory support, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, enterprise policies, second line accountabilities, and the defined document hierarchy.
  • Establish clear ownership, approval authorities, lifecycle controls, and documentation practices that support transparency, traceability, consistent interpretation, and audit defensibility.

Document Lifecycle, Standards, & Repository Management
  • Oversee the end-to-end document lifecycle, including drafting, stakeholder review, approval, publication, periodic review, update, retirement, and archival.
  • Maintain adherence to enterprise standards for metadata, taxonomy, version control, classification, access, storage, and repository governance, while ensuring legacy content is appropriately retired, archived, or replaced.

Documentation Quality, Rationalization, & Regulatory Alignment
  • Lead the preparation and maintenance of clear, precise, and implementable policies, standards, procedures, governance artefacts, briefing materials, and regulatory documentation owned by Regulatory Implementations (Canada), Enterprise AML Standards & Learning.
  • Translate complex regulatory requirements into consistent enterprise expectations and provide advisory guidance on policy intent, documentation requirements, and implementation considerations, while rationalizing documentation to reduce duplication and improve usability across jurisdictions and stakeholder groups.

Audit, Regulatory Readiness, & Stakeholder Advisory
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation practices, including complete approval records, version history, supporting artefacts, and traceable evidence of governance decisions and regulatory alignment.
  • Support audits, regulatory examinations, and ad hoc inquiries, and provide strategic policy and documentation advisory guidance to Global AML, business lines, compliance, regulatory change teams, and other stakeholders.

Risk Culture & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain strong knowledge of AML/ATF regulatory frameworks and industry best practices, promote accountability and documentation discipline, and identify opportunities to improve documentation quality, governance effectiveness, usability, and lifecycle efficiency.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage complex documentation environments
  • ACAMS certification or equivalent
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations or audit processes
  • Familiarity with responsible use of AI-enabled productivity tools to support documentation quality, efficiency, and knowledge management
