The Senior Manager, Data Governance & Excellence is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise data governance framework, data quality practices, and data enablement initiatives.

This role drives accountability for data across business domains, ensuring data is trusted, consistent, and compliant. Working closely with business and technology stakeholders, the Senior Manager enables effective data management practices that support operational excellence and data-driven decision-making.


Description

Data Governance Framework & Execution

  • Lead the implementation and evolution of enterprise data governance policies, standards, and processes (e.g., metadata, access, classification, retention)
  • Establish and operationalize data ownership and stewardship models across domains
  • Maintain enterprise data definitions, glossary, and taxonomy to ensure consistency of KPIs and reporting
  • Lead governance forums (e.g., Data Council, stewardship community) and drive adherence to standards
  • Ensure alignment with privacy, legal, and security requirements
  • Support integration of governance into enterprise processes and transformation initiatives

Data Stewardship & Domain Engagement

  • Build, lead, and enable a network of business data stewards across domains
  • Drive accountability for data ownership and data issue resolution within the business
  • Provide guidance and support to domain teams on governance practices and standards
  • Facilitate cross-domain alignment on shared data elements and definitions

 

Data Enablement, Literacy & Adoption

  • Promote adoption of data governance practices and standards across the organization
  • Support development and delivery of data literacy and training initiatives
  • Develop communications and materials to drive awareness and engagement
  • Establish and facilitate communities of practice to share best practices

Lead the team

  • Coaching and mentoring the members of your team
  • Advise and coach individuals in the organization that perform Data Governance & Data Integrity work day-to-day
  • Build a strong, active network across CAE
  • Drive, and lead by example, a One CAE culture
  • Take action to maintain a high level of engagement within your team

Data Quality & Controls

  • Define and implement data quality frameworks, rules, and monitoring processes
  • Oversee identification, prioritization, and resolution of data quality issues
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive sustainable remediation actions with business and IT partners
  • Partner with technology teams to deploy data quality tooling, scorecards, and dashboards
  • Ensure data is fit-for-purpose for key business processes and reporting

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related fields (Engineering, Computer Science, Analytics, etc.)
  • Minimum 10-12 years’ experience in the field of data, governance, analytics and business intelligence
  • Strong people leader with minimum 5 years leading teams of technical and non-technical professionals.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality tools (e.g., catalog, lineage platforms)
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and change enablement skills
  • Good knowledge of other relevant analytics tools (Power BI, Salesforce)
  • Bilingual French-English
