Job Description

This role will be the engineering lead between our data center parnters and the Data Center Operations teams. You have hands on experience managing data center critical systems and are comfortable with managing data center facilities, undertaking critical reviews of global and regional engineering plans and adhering to targets, acting as the main point of escalation for engineering issues. You understand all aspects of the data center critical power and cooling systems, and the environment IT equipment being deployed. You innovate and make decisions on your own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. Expected to improve current processes, and introduce automation with aim towards simplification

Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure capacity objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Successful track record as a manager. Detailed knowledge of technical and business concepts of several related applications areas. BA/BS degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Critical Environment Maintenance Support:
-Oversees ongoing critical infrastructure maintenance and repair for all service lines, ensuring service uptime meets expected standards, service level agreements (SLAs) and faults are addressed promptly.
-Directs operating activities using advanced engineering expertise, overseeing advanced diagnostics and repairs.
-Implements strategies aligned with Oracle processes and industry standards to drive the resolution of routine and non-routine issues.
-Provides strategic recommendations for system-level enhancements to ensure the mitigation of potential problems.
-Drives evaluations of components or action plans suitability, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Incident Management and Operation Improvement:
-Oversees the management of data center incidents impacting critical infrastructure, ensuring proactive and timely resolution of such incidents to maintain operational integrity.
-Manages collaborative efforts with design, construction, commissioning, facility engineering, and data center operations teams to integrate new engineering design systems into existing data center infrastructure.
-Oversees team engagement with operational optimization and efficiency improvement initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
-Ensures evaluation and compliance with safe working practices, providing direction to uphold company safety standards.
-Oversees post-incident review processes by guiding cross-functional teams through root cause analyses, institutionalizing lessons learned, and driving the development and governance of Corrective and Preventive Action Plans (CAPAs) to mitigate systemic risks and enhance global infrastructure resilience.
-Partners with key stakeholders and drives collaborations across teams during emergency response and ensures critical issues are promptly resolved and risk is mitigated.
Site Commissioning and Build:
-Oversees site selection and assessment activities across programs or regions, guiding teams in evaluating technical, environmental, and infrastructure conditions to inform long-term capacity planning.
-Reviews and validates technical documentation and reports for strategic tooling inputs and ensures consistency across deliverables.
-Leads cross-functional design and commissioning review efforts, synthesizing commissioning data to drive quality assurance and risk mitigation.
-Oversees and manages processes and engagements to ensure design adjustments align with performance, safety, and operational objectives.
Data Center Operations Management:
-Directs the validation of on-site data center operations concerning engineering infrastructure, ensuring alignment with group goals.
-Acts as a key resource for operations-related projects, leveraging subject matter expertise to inform strategic decisions.
-Partners with key stakeholders to remove blockers and provides recommendations, solutions, and resources to ensure that operational requirements and specifications are delivered on time.
-Ensures compliance with established standards and policies through the review of documentation and organizational participation in commissioning activities, design summits, and data center reviews.
-Establishes processes and procedures around supporting operations.
Engineering Design, Leadership, and Governance:
-Develops and implements design and engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with group goals and objectives.
-Offers strategic guidance and engineering oversight to ensure projects and initiatives meet company expectations.
-Leads the coordination of internal and external team members in delivering data centers for Oracle.
-Provides guidance to teams on the administration of contracts, including generating and reviewing contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents.
-Reviews policy documents to ensure alignment with company standards and best practices.
-Maintains and oversees best-in-class policies and procedures, ensuring effective reviews of policy and procedure documents are aligned with compliance and organizational standards.
-Oversees the proposal review process of maintenance plans, including benchmarking with others and cost analysis, and escalates/shares findings with senior leaders for approval.
Training and Knowledge Sharing:
-Leads the development of training programs for newer team members, ensuring they align with team goals.
-Audits the drill program, as needed.
-Serves as a resource for complex, advanced systems, leveraging expertise to mentor and guide others both within and outside the team.
-Aligns workload to headcount.

Additional Responsibilities (as needed)
Colocation Vendor Management:
-Holds Colocation Vendor accountable for meeting contractual requirements.

-Leads the acquisition of adequate resources, such as spare parts, generator fuel, water, and consumables.
-Directs vendor and contractor scheduling and site access, driving work to execution and completion per Oracle expectations and safe-working practices.

-Manages multiple medium- to large-scale projects or initiatives across teams, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budgets when applicable are monitored and met. Provides direction to teams on project work, setting priorities, and aligning with business needs. Guides teams on adjusting plans to accommodate resource or timeline changes.

-Drives cross-functional partnerships to align on expectations and shared objectives across multiple teams. Coaches team members to develop strategic relationships with business leaders, stakeholders, and external partners to foster collaboration and long-term success. Promotes inclusivity by actively seeking and listening to diverse perspectives, ensuring others feel heard and respected.
Problem Solving:
-Provides direction to multiple teams on addressing complex operational and/or technical issues as well as providing guidance on analyzing complex data and/or information to identify solutions. Reviews and provides insights into unresolved or critical issues, helping the team to identify potential solutions.
Continuous Learning:
-Models engaging in continuous learning to deepen expertise and stay ahead of industry trends, integrating best practices into strategic planning. Leverages feedback to drive personal and team skill improvements. Identifies skill gaps across teams, and empowers team members to pursue learning and knowledge sharing opportunities that build their expertise in new areas and coaches them to apply learnings to advance the organization.
Continuous Improvement:
-Drives team to collaborate on, develop, and implement ideas to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, protocols, and workflows within and across teams, providing oversight. Guides team to adopt new ideas for alternative approaches and methods and encourages feedback for continued improvement.
Performance and Development:
-Drives performance across teams by providing feedback and coaching in alignment with performance management processes, guidelines, and expectations. Discusses development goals with team members, shares opportunities to facilitate career development, and ensures individual goals are aligned with broader organizational goals. Develops and manages talent acquisition pipeline by leading candidate interviews, monitoring promotion eligibility, and/or orchestrating talent resources.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $126,200 to $264,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
