Full Job Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategic Finance, the Senior Manager, Corporate Development will apply the quantitative rigor and execution discipline necessary to evaluate and close strategic acquisitions as a key contributor to TMX Group and its various business units. An ideal candidate would have a background in corporate development, investment banking or private equity, with buyside deal experience and expert-level financial modeling capabilities.
Key Accountabilities
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis and valuation of potential acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, and other strategic initiatives.
• Develop and maintain complex three-statement models, with DCF and accretion/dilution analysis, across various forecast and financing scenarios, driving innovation and efficiency in modeling processes and methodologies.
• Lead and project manage external advisors, corporate functions, business units and IMO through the due diligence and transaction execution stages, fostering collaboration and ensuring efficiency and alignment.
• Own various internal and external due diligence workstreams.
• Identify and leverage research on market trading multiples and precedent transactions to establish rigorous valuation benchmarks.
• Create high-quality presentation materials suitable for executive and board-level stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and rigor.
• Track target opportunities and investment banker interactions using a deal pipeline software tool.
• Drive the continuous enhancement of the Corporate Development playbook by refining internal models / templates, incorporating automation, and adopting industry best practices.
Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, with a preference for MBA / CFA / CPA designations, and/or backgrounds in Computer Science / Engineering.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in corporate development, private equity, investment banking, equity research or a similar role focused on acquisitions and investments.
• Advanced financial modeling skills using industry best practices, including proficiency in building and maintaining dynamic three-statement models with DCF, accretion/dilution, scenario and sensitivity analyses.
• Solid understanding of financial statement analysis, corporate finance, and valuation techniques.
• Experience with the transaction process and related activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Capital IQ Pro plug-in. Demonstrated capabilities using AI, data analytics / visualization, or Google Workspace would be an asset.
• Excellent project management, collaboration and organizational skills, able to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communication skills, able to effectively present information and interact with all levels of management, and synthesize complex data into high-impact executive summaries and board-level materials.
• A self-starter with a high level of initiative, can work independently and collaboratively across the organization.
• Attention to detail, producing accurate and high quality deliverables.
Short-listed candidates will be required to complete a live technical case study.
Salary Range: $135,000/year - $165,000/year CAD. Please note that the salary range included is a guideline only. The salary offered may vary based on factors, including, but not limited to, the successful candidate's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
