Job DescriptionWe are building a new
OCI Performance team and seeking an engineering leader to build and grow the organization from the ground up. This leader will define
performance and availability KPIs, drive efficiency across OCI services, and lead the development of new services and tools that enable OCI's next-generation cloud capabilities across diverse environments.
Manages teams delivering
scalable, resilient distributed systems across a 2-4 quarter horizon. Establishes engineering standards for scalability, performance, SLOs, observability, and fault tolerance while overseeing operational readiness and incident management. Drives
security, compliance, IaC, automation, and change management to enable reliable, high-performance cloud services at scale.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
System Design & Architecture- Manage delivery of scalable, high-performance distributed systems across multiple teams, leveraging distributed state management and data-plane platforms.
- Establish scalability requirements and oversee optimization and performance/load testing for hyperscale workloads.
- Guide design of fault-tolerant, highly available systems using redundancy, replication, failover, and resilience mechanisms.
- Establish SLOs, KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, and alerting to drive reliability and system health.
- Oversee correctness testing, fault injection, and replication/synchronization strategies for data integrity and availability.
Operational Excellence- Drive proactive troubleshooting, incident management, operational readiness, and on-call coverage across teams.
- Ensure systems support in-service maintenance and minimize customer-facing interruptions.
Security & Compliance- Oversee security controls, encryption, access management, remediation, and compliance for multi-tenant environments.
- Ensure security and compliance documentation remains current.
Automation & Change Management- Oversee IaC and automation for cloud infrastructure and operations.
- Guide change-management strategies for safe, automated patching, updates, and rollbacks.

Continuous Improvement- Drive improvements to processes, protocols, and workflows across teams and promote adoption of more effective approaches.
Performance & Development- Lead performance management, coaching, career development, and talent planning across teams.
- Develop the talent pipeline through hiring, candidate assessment, promotions, and workforce planning.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position.
