The Senior Manager contributes to the management of credit risk for the Retail portfolios by overseeing the data management and reporting operation efforts. The Senior Manager is responsible for the provision of analytical and trend-based risk data management for executive, management, and external stakeholder reporting packages across the retail life cycle (origination, portfolio management, and collection). The Senior Manager will provide leadership and support to key projects within the Retail Credit Risk Roadmap framework which will deliver data and reporting enhancements

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Lead the design, development, maintenance and data management of databases/data in EDL to provide complete, timely, accurate information in support of Retail Credit Risk analysis and reporting.
  • Be responsible for new system development (including EDL, analytical cubes and reports), on-going maintenance and enhancement for existing tools and systems, supporting business ad-hoc queries.
  • Support the standard and integrated EDL risk information system. Conduct business analysis of multiple sources for Canadian and International retail data
  • Ensure the design, development, maintenance and production of detailed reporting packages for senior management and external stakeholders (incl Board, regulators):
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain credit risk reports in SAS, HADOOP, Essbase, Hive/Hue, SQL Server, PowerBI, SQL Stored Procedure and Excel/Access VBA according to business and regulatory requirements.
  • Validate and test reports and reconcile end-report with various information sources. Assist in data interpretation and commentary
  • Lead special projects from a reporting and data analytics perspective and the on-going operational / data management efficiencies of data management, processes and reporting.
  • Support report updates within limited time frame to reflect changes.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have experience with:

  • Post-Secondary degree in a quantitative field such as business, finance, math or statistics. Masters or designation is desirable
  • A minimum of 5-7 years progressive experience and functional competencies in development, analytics and delivery of senior management reporting including monthly, quarterly reporting; experience in Retail Banking, retail credit risk and Financial / quantitative methodologies
  • Advanced knowledge of data management, aggregation, analysis techniques and risk management best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of reporting tools (build, execution for data preparation / visualization); e.g. Power BI, Essbase/SmartView).
  • Knowledge of Hadoop / tools, databases, query structure, data structure and data extraction is an asset.
  • Superior PC skills with expertise in MS Access, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Office 365, OneDrive, OneNote, etc. Critical due to the extensive manipulation of data required for analytics and reporting.
  • Good understanding of statistical theory and applications.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven ability to work independently and with policy, product groups and technology partners in a professional and productive manner.
  • Effective time management skills to to efficiently deliver concurrent project deliverables with competing priorities. Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership and communication skills required to manage, prioritize and execute diverse activities and projects concurrently. Schedules are often influenced by changing priorities.
  • Current awareness of regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Solid understanding of personal and small business credit products and associated policies and procedures
  • High level understanding of financial measures of risk adjusted returns; advanced knowledge of risk management best practices
