This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, operational awareness, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at the intersection of accounting, operations, and transformation. You’ll join a collaborative environment where your leadership, technical expertise, and process improvement mindset will help shape scalable, well-controlled finance operations in a growing logistics and fulfillment business.
What You’ll Do:
- Month-end and period close for operational accounts (reconciliations, journals, accruals, intercompany)
- Produce operational and management reports (costs, margin, inventory, service volumes, KPI’s) and explain variances.
- Own accounting compliance, internal controls, and audit readiness across high-volume operational processes, distribution centers, and related entities.
- Heavy involvement in the annual external audit process, including preparation of schedules, coordination of audit requests, and partnership with internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Support and lead aspects of the month-end close, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting.
- Drive process improvements and automation to reduce errors and month-end efforts.
- Own and execute key operational accounting processes such as: inventory reconciliations, cycle count results, adjustments, reserves, and variance analysis across warehouse and fulfillment environments.
- Partner closely with operations, procurement, and FP&A teams to ensure accounting treatment reflects business activity and supports scalable growth.
- Lead or support ERP conversions and systems initiatives, including process mapping, testing, cutover readiness, issue resolution, training, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Drive cross-functional projects focused on process improvement, automation, reporting visibility, and financial control enhancements across accounting operations.
- Develop, document, and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating practices that improve consistency, scalability, and compliance.
Who You Are:
- Detail-oriented and analytical, with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity.
- A proactive problem solver who identifies issues and drives solutions.
- A collaborative partner who works effectively across Finance, Operations, and other teams.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
- A continuous improvement mindset, always looking to streamline and optimize processes.
What You’ve Done:
- 5–8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on accounting compliance and operational accounting.
- Demonstrated experience in logistics, fulfillment, distribution, warehousing, transportation, or other inventory-intensive operating environments.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and accounting processes.
- Experience managing month-end close activities and account reconciliations.
- Advanced Excel and ERP systems knowledge with the ability to analyze large data sets, identify process gaps and implement effective solutions.
- Experience supporting audits and maintaining internal controls.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred or in progress).
What Will Make You Stand Out:
- Background in third-party logistics (3PL), retail distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, or transportation-driven operating models.
- Experience supporting external audits, internal audits, SOX compliance, or policy governance in a dynamic operating environment.
- Exposure to rapid growth, private equity-backed, or transformation-stage organizations.
- PMP or other project management certification is a plus.
