Location: Vacaville, California

This is a fully site based role. Working together in person supports close, real time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

Join Lonza in Vacaville, CA, as a Senior Maintenance Planner and become part of our Facilities Maintenance team supporting the production of innovative biotherapeutic medicines. In this role, you will work closely with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure reliable operation of critical facility systems and equipment. At Lonza, we operate in a highly regulated environment and follow strict cGMP and SOP standards, ensuring our processes consistently meet the highest quality and compliance requirements.

Shift: Day Shift: 4X10 shift ( Mon - Thu OR Tue - Fri)

What You Will Do

  • Review, prioritize, and validate maintenance requests based on safety, compliance, equipment reliability, and production impact.
  • Develop approved maintenance requests into ready-to-schedule work orders, ensuring complete job scopes, labor, materials, permits, and safety requirements are planned.
  • Partner with Maintenance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, EHS, Scheduling and Materials Management to build executable work orders that maximize efficiency while minimizing equipment/production downtime.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining accurate planning master data in SAP ensuring compliant maintenance plans and task lists to support execution.
  • Support plant shutdowns, equipment changeovers, projects, and other planned maintenance activities by ensuring all prerequisites are in place before work is released to scheduling.
  • Use metrics and data analysis to identify opportunities to improve planning efficiency, maintenance plan and task list quality and overall maintenance performance.
  • Serve as a maintenance planning subject matter expert by leading continuous improvement initiatives, mentoring team members, and providing planning support for investigations, CAPAs, vendor work, and cross-functional projects.


What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance planning experience.
  • Five to ten years of experience in maintenance planning, maintenance, reliability, or technical operations within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or industrial environment.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), with SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning best practices, preventive maintenance and GMP-regulated environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documents, and equipment information to develop comprehensive maintenance work plans.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and build strong partnerships across cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills with experience driving continuous improvement, mentoring and guiding others.
