ABOUT THIS ROLE
Position Overview: As a Kubernetes Platform Engineer you will be a key member of our DevOps and SRE team, responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining automation for Kubernetes clusters. Your primary focus will be developing the tooling that ensures the reliable and secure operation of our Kubernetes environments. You will work closely with our developer experience and development teams to enable the seamless deployment of applications in Kubernetes.
Responsibilities:
Tooling Development: Develop and extend the tooling we use to automatically generate manifests to eliminate manual copy/paste errors.
Kubernetes Cluster Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain Kubernetes clusters and associated tooling, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Set up robust monitoring and alerting systems in Datadog to proactively identify and resolve issues. Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to Kubernetes clusters and associated components.
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices, conduct regular security audits, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of Kubernetes configurations and best practices.
Collaboration: Collaborate with application teams to streamline the deployment and management of applications in Kubernetes.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies, and drive continuous improvement in Kubernetes cluster management processes.
On-Call: Participate in an on-call rotation responding to and troubleshooting incidents in production environments to minimize downtime and ensure service reliability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years experience as a developer (Go, Java, Python, etc.).
2+ years experience working with Kubernetes (GKE, EKS, RKE, etc).
Proficiency in Kubernetes cluster deployment, configuration, and management in both cloud and and on-premises environments.
Hands-on experience with GitOps practices and tools.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, ) and their Kubernetes services.
Experience with Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
Solid understanding of container related technologies such as Docker, ContainerD, Helm, etc.
Strong knowledge of cloud-native and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
