Job DescriptionSAIC is seeking an IT Specialist to play a key role in keeping critical network, system, and communication technologies running smoothly. This position provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 support across network, systems, and phone operations in alignment with the SIE OPORD. You'll manage and maintain a wide variety of IT and communication systems-including routers, switches, VTCs, phones, laptops, and related infrastructure-while helping ensure reliable, secure performance for users and mission partners.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, hands-on experience with diverse network protocols, hardware, and software, and a passion for troubleshooting and problem solving. Solid communication skills are essential, as you'll collaborate closely with other IT team members and contribute to long-range planning and resource administration for the enterprise network.
Key responsibilities include monitoring system performance, maintaining equipment logs, ensuring link functionality, and supporting full lifecycle operations for LAN/WAN infrastructures. You'll also prepare technical implementation plans, conduct research to ensure network compliance with applicable standards, and provide regular performance updates to Government stakeholders.
Primary Duties Include:• Installing, configuring, tuning, testing, operating, monitoring, upgrading, patching, troubleshooting, and managing WAN and LAN routing and switching hardware and software.
• Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and managing PC hardware and software within the WAN/LAN infrastructure.
• Supporting and repairing LAN/WAN capabilities, including point-to-point circuits, satellite connectivity, dedicated and broadband Internet connections, and associated routers, switches, and encryption devices.
• Configuring, operating, maintaining, defending, and troubleshooting LAN Programs of Record (PORs).
• Managing IT infrastructures across USSOCOM, Component Commands, TSOCs, and deployed forces, including required updates to routers, switches, circuits, and encryption devices.
• Maintaining and repairing Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) architectures.
• Configuring, maintaining, defending, and troubleshooting classified and unclassified wireless LANs and wireless access points.
• Provisioning and managing secure LAN/WAN VPN services for remote elements and mission partners, ensuring compliance with DoD, DIA, DISA, USCYBERCOM, and USSOCOM policies and directives.
• Troubleshooting LAN/WAN voice, data, and transmission networks and assessing the impact of architectural changes.
• Implementing and maintaining network and security access controls.
• Updating, monitoring, managing, troubleshooting, and documenting routers and switches across USSOCOM LAN/WAN networks.
• Coordinating with Government and commercial circuit providers to expedite restoration of circuit outages.
• Supporting mobile devices and CSfC kits.
May require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM mission
QualificationsQualifications:- Solid technical skills, with experience in a variety of network protocols, software, and hardware involved in IT Specialist operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Government hardware, software, and network components.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytic and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities
- Security+ Certification required
- Must be DoW 8140 compliant under the Work Role Code 411 - Technical Support Specialist- Intermediate level or higher. (CCNA Preferred)
Education & Experience: - High school diploma with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, 10 years' experience with Associate's, OR 6 years' experience with Bachelor's.
Security Clearance: - Active DoD TS/SCI clearance or higher is required.
