What is the opportunity?

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be managing the planning, organization and implementation of projects under the Market Services to ensure project goals or objectives are accomplished within approved timeframe, scope and budget.

What will you do?

Project Management:
  • Deliver large-scale, high-value initiatives with substantial investments ($1M-5M) achieving measurable business outcomes and ROI
  • Works with Business & Technology Owners to ensure that the deliverables achieve the business result and value creation for our clients
  • Manages project execution in sprints with incremental deliverables, enabling regular feedback loops and adaptive planning to respond to changing business priorities and stakeholder needs
  • Orchestrates all sprint ceremonies including planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives to maintain team alignment, drive continuous improvement, and ensure adherence to agile principles
  • Facilitate joint planning with the client and stakeholders in the early stages of project
  • Develops integrated baseline project plans applying estimated models; documents estimating assumptions, refine plans and manages performance against them.
  • Determines quality standards and oversees the execution / production of management documents.
  • Communicates risks and impact on deliverables to stakeholders proactively using appropriate fact-based metrics and/or assumptions
  • Raises and tracks issues and conflicts, removes barriers, resolves minor project issues and escalates them to immediate manager when required.
  • Facilitates schedule and cost forecasting; mentors project managers in determining risk-based provisions.
  • Seeks out industry trends and organizational knowledge to understand alternative approaches and/or solutions.


Governance, Compliance and Risk Planning:
  • Sets up appropriate governance and oversight of all projects.
  • Identifies and manages strategic, tactical, and operational risks; brings risk-based approach to forecasting.
  • Resolves complex issues and conflicts and escalates to executive level where required.
  • Ensures projects follow established standards including delivery life cycle methods and meets audit requirements.


Communications and Stakeholder Management:
  • Focuses on client experience and strengthens relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Manages project communications including status reports to executives, stakeholders, business units, vendors, project team, etc.
  • Provides senior management with timely updates on project issues. Identifies resources and skills required.
  • Manage external vendors and third parties (consultants, offshoring, outsourcing) as needed for the project.


IT Project Management
  • Engages Technology specific governance processes to ensure IT Risk and compliance due diligence is applied, ensuring project adheres to applicable risk and compliance procedures, as relevant to impacts resulting from the change being introduced by the project
  • Ensure Technology specific change management processes are adhered to by IT Project team members, where applicable, in developing, managing and tracking deliverables for the project
  • Utilize applicable technology specific processes and designated tools for project cost recovery of project team resources


Business Project Management
  • Timely engagement with RBC specific regulatory, compliance, finance, operational risk, supplier management, and other specific local or enterprise-wide business processes, as determined by financial implications of the project's costs, and the specific impacts of the change being introduced by the project
  • Facilitate Project Sponsor awareness of internal factors affecting Organizational Change and engage Change Management partners and stakeholders


What do you need to succeed?

Must have:
  • 12+ years' progressive project-related experience
  • Experience managing complex initiatives with significant financial impact and strategic importance to the organization
  • Hands-on knowledge of SDLC and Agile delivery methodologies
  • Hands-on knowledge of Advanced project management practices including developing plans / roadmaps; scheduling; OKRs and project metrics; advance risk assessment and quantification; cost/benefit analysis; benefits management
  • Advanced people management knowledge and leadership skills, including talent management process (recruitment / selection, performance management, performance development / coaching, reward / recognition)
  • PMP certification or equivalent (preferred)
  • CSM certification preferred
  • Undergraduate degree Business/Engineering (preferred)


Nice-to-have
  • Experience working in the Financial/Insurance industry
  • Experience working with multiple teams with scaled agile practices
