Description

KIESI is looking to recruit a (Senior) Investment Officer to lead KIESI priorities related to sector strategy and expertise, knowledge creation and sharing, innovation, deal-structuring guidance, global client relationships, and business development.

Duties and Accountabilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead selected power sub-sector(s), such as solar, wind, transmission, distribution, nuclear, gas, hydropower and battery storage, and serve as a focal investment specialist supporting management and investment teams globally in business development, project structuring and execution, and approval processes for such sub-sectors;
• Develop WBG value propositions and help design and replicate global investment and advisory products in selected power sub-sectors of specialization;
• Manage selected global client relationships or work with global client relationship managers to support client engagement and business development in the energy sector;
• Lead knowledge management and contribute to knowledge creation, sharing, and dissemination across WBG regional and sector teams, with an emphasis on practical knowledge supporting business development, market creation, innovation, investment decision-making, and risk management;
• Work closely with WBG management and external stakeholders on energy sector and sub-sector strategies and implementation plans;
• Actively monitor industry and market trends, participate in industry events, and build sector relationships globally;
• Lead or support WBG initiatives and participation in energy-related events, including conferences and annual meetings; and
• Mentor and coach less-experienced staff and help build talent and strengthen the skills base of the team.

Selection Criteria
• Master's degree in finance, economics, business administration, engineering, or a similar relevant field;
• 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably with several years at a development finance institution;
• Significant investment and sector experience in power, with recognized sub-sector specialization and expertise;
• Proven ability to develop and implement power-sector business strategies and lead knowledge management activities globally;
• Strong track record in project development, origination, structuring, execution, and portfolio management of power-sector transactions in emerging markets and developing countries;
• Familiarity with multiple financial products, including project and corporate finance, blended finance, quasi-equity, and straight equity;
• Demonstrated ability to innovate and create new opportunities across sub-sectors and financing products;
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government authorities, industry groups and experts;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound business judgment to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions;
• Proven leadership capabilities and ability to take initiative and drive change;
• Capacity to deal with conflicting priorities and deliver high-quality work on schedule; ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries;
• Highly motivated and proactive, and committed to the highest ethical standards;
• Commitment to the World Bank Group's and IFC's mission, strategy, and values;
• Fluent in English; other languages are a plus.
