What we offer

Reporting to the Director, Treasury, the Senior Insurance Associate supports insurance and risk management activities across a diverse portfolio of operating companies, including homebuilding, manufacturing, and investment businesses. This role is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive captive risk management program, including the management of all policies, claims and LC/surety bonds. What you'll do
  • Coordinate the internal (Mattamy Homes, Stelumar and Gilgan Family Office) annual insurance renewal process by collecting, organizing, and validating underwriting information, schedules, data, and supporting documentation.
  • Act as a key point of contact and coordinate with insurance brokers, insurers, and internal stakeholders to support the timely issuance, review, and maintenance of all internal insurance policies, certificates, binders, endorsements, and related documentation.
  • Oversee the tracking of internal insurance premiums, invoices, allocations, and payment status to ensure costs are accurately coded, allocated to the appropriate divisions, and submitted for payment on a timely basis.
  • Maintain and oversee internal insurance records, schedules, summaries, and internal tracking tools to support effective program administration, audit readiness, and management reporting.
  • Support accounts payable by reviewing and approving vendor certificates of insurance against contract requirements before payment release.
  • Coordinate internal claims administration, loss reporting, and collection of supporting documentation, working with brokers, insurers, legal, operations, and finance teams as required.
  • Prepare and coordinate quarterly, annual, and ad hoc internal insurance reporting, including preparation of analysis, summaries, presentations, and variance explanations for internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare and coordinate the placement and ongoing administration of surety bonds, letters of credit, and other risk transfer or financial assurance instruments, coordinating with treasury, legal, operations, and external partners as needed.
  • Develop and maintain insurance and risk management procedures, treasury process documentation, calendars, and checklists to promote consistency and strong internal controls.
  • Provide secondary support to treasury activities on an as-needed basis, including assistance with daily cash positioning, cash management reporting, banking documentation, letters of credit, and other treasury coordination activities.
  • Serve as a key point of contact and collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate operational, administrative, and reporting requirements across insurance, risk management, finance, treasury, legal, and business teams.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and initiatives as required

What you bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in insurance, finance, treasury, accounting, risk management, or a related corporate environment
  • Strong interest in corporate insurance, risk management, treasury, and finance, with a desire to further develop expertise in insurance within a diversified corporate environment
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize information clearly and accurately for different audiences
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a professional and detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines in a dynamic environment, and remain calm under pressure
  • A strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork while maintaining the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build effective working relationships
  • Strong documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Bonus points
  • Progression toward or completion of CIP, CRM, ARM, CFA, CPA, or CTP designations
  • Experience supporting large corporate insurance programs, renewals, and claims administration.
  • Exposure to captive insurance structures, surety bonds, and letters of credit.
  • Experience working in real estate, development, construction, manufacturing or other asset-intensive industries.
  • Advanced Excel and financial analysis capabilities.


Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job-related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside this range, and we encourage all interested candidates to apply.
