Full Job Description
Purpose:

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Instrumentation Engineer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Senior Instrumentation Engineer provides high-quality instrumentation and control (I&C) engineering services to Worley and its customers.This role is responsible for the technical execution of I&C engineering work across projects, supporting delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements, while contributing to mentoring and technical development within the instrumentation team.

Responsibilities:

Deliver instrumentation engineering services that meet Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Leading the execution of instrumentation and control engineering activities on assigned projects or project scopes.
  • Supporting project planning and delivery, including participation in relevant meetings, preparation of progress reports, and compliance with required checking and quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensuring project scope is clearly defined and that changes are managed in accordance with project change management processes.
  • Providing technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including:
    • Preparation and review of requisitions.
    • Technical bid evaluations.
    • Review of vendor documentation and purchase orders.
  • Coordinating instrumentation engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, mechanical, piping, automation) to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies between Worley and client standards and requirements.
  • Supporting the development and technical review of instrumentation engineering deliverables.
  • Providing guidance and technical support to intermediate and junior engineers and designers as required.
  • Communicating effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifying technical issues and risks, developing appropriate solutions, and escalating when needed.


What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience delivering instrumentation and control engineering work on industrial projects (e.g., energy, mining, chemicals, or infrastructure).
  • Working knowledge of engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools (e.g., SAP, KMS, or equivalent project systems).
  • Experience participating in process safety and operability studies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and implementing outcomes into engineering design.
  • Understanding of project scope definition, workshare execution, and the practical impacts of TA/NTA execution models.
  • Solid experience in instrumentation and control engineering roles on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, review, and interpret I&C designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.

Strong working knowledge of Instrumentation & Control deliverables, including:
  • Junction box and marshalling panel design.
  • P&IDs.
  • Loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument location drawings.
  • Motor control and interconnection schematics.
  • Instrument installation details.
  • Instrument datasheets and specifications.
  • I/O lists.
  • Bills of material.
  • Cable, conduit, and tray schedules.
  • Control narratives and philosophies.
  • Cause & effect diagrams.
  • Material requisitions.
  • Construction and engineering work packages.

Working knowledge of instrumentation selection and application, including:
  • Flow measurement (orifice, vortex, venturi, magnetic, ultrasonic).
  • Level measurement (radar, displacers, gauges).
  • Temperature measurement (including thermowell design and frequency wake calculations).
  • Pressure measurement.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:
  • Accredited Engineering Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with EGBC, or eligibility to obtain registration.


For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $125,970 to $170,430
