Wood is recruiting for a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer / Technologist to join its Projects Canada business. This opportunity is hybrid and based in Calgary, Alberta.

The Role
Wood is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer / Technologist to coordinate the execution of a variety of projects within our Projects Canada business.
The role will support both greenfield and brownfield projects and may involve engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction support activities. Projects span the full project lifecycle, including Studies, Design Basis Memoranda (DBM), Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), and Detailed Design/Execution phases.
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with engineering procedures, company standards, and quality control requirements.
* Interface and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and suppliers.
* Provide technical input for P&ID development and review.
* Specify, select, and size field instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments, control valves, on/off valves, relief valves, and associated control devices.
* Prepare and review control system deliverables, including Control Philosophies, Control Narratives, Cause & Effect Diagrams, and Control System Architectures.
* Apply knowledge of industrial communication networks and fiber optic systems.
* Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL studies and reviews.
* Prepare and review instrument loop diagrams, system cabinet designs, and wiring drawings for control systems.
* Review project documentation for scope alignment, technical accuracy, completeness, and presentation quality.
* Prepare Material Requisitions (MRs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), and equipment award recommendations for instrumentation and control systems.
* Support the development of Control Narratives and Cause & Effect Diagrams.
* Prepare and review instrument deliverables, including Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, I/O Assignments, and Load Lists.
* Apply knowledge of industrial communication and network systems.
* Maintain regular communication with vendors, clients, and internal project stakeholders.
* Provide technical support during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).

Expected:
* Diploma in Instrumentation Technology or Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
* Minimum eight years of industry experience in Instrumentation & Controls engineering.
* Strong understanding of API, ASME, CSA, and ISA codes, standards, and directives.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Desirable:
* Experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
* Experience using SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools).
* Registration with, or eligibility for registration through, APEGA.
