The Opportunity:Tetra Tech is adding a
Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer / Technologist to our
I&Cteam based in
Vancouver, BC.Your Role:- Develop control strategies, provide input to P&IDs, control system specifications, termination diagrams, commissioning plans.
- Design, specification and integration of complete automation systems including PLC, HMI, DCS, and communication networks.
- Participation in control panel design and generation of bill of materials, cabling, PLC and HMI programming, and commissioning for commercial and industrial facilities.
- Performing FAT, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Collect field information, equipment specification, drawing development, material take-offs, cost estimate input, schedule input, HAZOP participation, code review, technical studies, report preparation, commissioning, operator and maintenance staff training.
- Work independently on Instrumentation & Controls design as an integrated member of an interdisciplinary design team.
- Coordinate activities with Project Managers and Technical Engineers of all disciplines.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or Technologist diploma in Instrumentation & Controls or a related field.
- Registered, or eligible to be registered, with ASTTBC or as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in BC an asset.
- 10 - 15 years of progressive experience as an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer / Technologist preferred.
- Prior experience in Oil Refining, Oil Sands, Mining, Natural Gas, Power Generation, or Pulp & Paper sectors considered an asset.
- Experience designing, programming, and commissioning PLC, PAC, and/or DCS-based control systems using industry-standard platforms.
- Experience with major control system vendors (e.g., Schneider/Modicon, Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley) preferred.
- Ability to specify, select, and procure control system hardware and software.
- Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), HMI development, and industrial network design and implementation.
- Formal training from control system vendors and/or industry software tools considered an asset.
- Experience producing instrumentation and control deliverables, including junction box (JB), PLC/DCS I/O, and loop drawings.
- Experience with instrumentation design considered an asset.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, including the ability to adapt to changing project scope.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills for internal collaboration and client interface.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000 per year.
