Position SummaryThe
Senior HR Generalist, Employee Relations plays a key role in fostering a positive employee experience. As a trusted advisor, this role provides expert guidance to leaders on employee relations matters, ensures consistent and compliant application of HR policies and employment legislation, and strengthens organizational capabilities in HR processes, programs, and policies to proactively support employee relations excellence. In addition, the Senior HR Generalist leads or supports the implementation of organizational change initiatives and contributes to the continuous improvement of HR processes and programs. This role reports directly to the Head of HR, Canada and partners with colleagues across all HR functions.
This role is based at downtown Toronto Galderma office (161 Bay Street) with a minimum of three days on-site work required per week. The annual base salary range is 90,000 - 110,000 CAD. Essential Functions- Oversees all employee relations matters and provides day-to-day guidance to managers on HR matters such as performance management, investigations, workplace conduct, policy interpretation, etc.
- Champions compliance with HR policies and employment legislation, and ensures consistent application across all employees, business functions and organizational levels.
- Partners with Head of HR, Canada to identify capability gaps and implements targeted employee relations strategies and initiatives aligned to business objectives.
- Develops and delivers training, resources, and communications to enhance understanding of HR processes, programs, policies and best practices.
- Partners with business leaders to execute employee relations aspects of organizational changes (e.g. workforce planning, org design, redeployments, etc.)
- Provides guidance to the HR shared services team on the administration of local HR processes, programs, and policies to ensure compliance and alignment with employee relations practices and business objectives.
- Supports the execution of HR processes and programs, identifies trends and implements solutions to improve workplace culture and enhance employee experience.
- Creates and maintains HR documentation, including policies, handbooks, guidance materials, and toolkits.
- Demonstrates honesty and integrity, and models behaviours consistent with Galderma's Four Commitments, company standards and policies.
- Demonstrates agility and adaptability in learning new technologies and business processes.
- Performs other related responsibilities, as assigned, to support departmental and organizational objectives
Minimum Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education experience.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive HR experience, with significant experience in employee relations in a non-union environment.
- CHRP, CHRL designation (or actively working towards designation)
- Demonstrated expertise in employee relations and case management skills, including the ability to assess, manage, and resolve complex workplace matters
- Ability to effectively advise and coach managers on performance management, investigations, workplace conduct, and policy application
- Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to develop training, documentation, and practical HR resources
- Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in HR systems and digital tools, with agility to learn new technologies and processes
- Microsoft Office: intermediate level Word, PowerPoint & Excel (e.g. pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Experience with Workday is a strong asset
