Senior Geologist Supervisor

Role Overview

The Senior Geologist Supervisor provides senior technical leadership and project management oversight for geology-driven programs that support resource development, geological modeling, and Life-of-Asset (LOA) planning at Highland Valley Copper.

The role is accountable for the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale diamond and reverse circulation (RC) drilling programs, as well as the integration of high-quality geological data into resource and geoscience models that underpin mine planning, production optimization, and long-term asset value, while ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and to a high technical standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Lead the safe planning and execution of diamond and RC drilling programs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Manage drilling programs end-to-end, including scope, scheduling, budgeting, and contractor oversight
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions to deliver on time and within budget
  • Balance competing priorities and resources across multiple concurrent projects
  • Provide senior geological expertise in porphyry Cu-Mo systems, including interpretation of lithology, alteration, mineralization, and structure
  • Oversee the collection, validation, and interpretation of geological data to support resource models and planning
  • Ensure geological models, datasets, and technical outputs meet industry best practices and internal standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contractors, communicating project progress, risks, and outcomes effectively
  • Mentor and support geologists and technicians while driving continuous improvement in workflows, QA/QC, and data systems
  • Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with environmental, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements


Qualifications

  • Membership as a Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
  • 15+ years of experience in operating mine or advanced project environments, with demonstrated success managing large diamond and RC drilling programs.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience with porphyry Cu-Mo deposits.
  • Strong understanding of geological modeling, resource development, and Life-of-Asset planning requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, schedules, and budgets while maintaining safety and technical quality.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard geology and data management software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine, Vulcan, acQuire, or similar).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.


Pay Range: CAD $138,000 - $170,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

Working Conditions:
  • Location: Highland Valley Copper is a 50-minute drive from Kamloops, which has all of the comforts of city living and is also close to Merritt, Ashcroft, and Logan Lake, which all exude a small town community atmosphere.
  • Access: This is a drive-in/drive-out role. Most employees commute to site by car, and carpooling is common among team members.

About Teck Resources Limited

The Red Dog mine is a large zinc and lead mine in a remote region of Alaska, about 80 miles north of Kotzebue, which is owned and operated by the Canadian mining company Teck Resources. It is located within the boundaries of the Red Dog Mine census-designated place in the Northwest Arctic Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska. The mine is the world's largest producer of zinc and has the world's largest zinc reserves. Red Dog accounts for 10% of the world's zinc production. Red Dog accounted for 55% of the mineral value produced in Alaska in 2008. In 2008 the mine produced 515,200 metric tons of zinc, 122,600 metric tons of lead, and 283 metric tons of silver, for a total metal value of over one billion dollars. At the end of 2008 the mine had reserves of 61,400,000 metric tons of zinc at a grade of 17.1% and 61,400,000 tonnes of lead at a grade of 4.5%, as well as significant additional zinc and lead in the less well-measured resource category. According to a 2007 EPA report, the mine, which produces from an open pit, was mining the Aqqaluk ore body, immediately adjacent to the previous pit. Aqqaluk contains an additional 56 million metric tons of lead and zinc ore. The expansion was expected to keep the mine operating until 2031.:?16
