OverviewAcuity, Inc. seeks a Senior Gateway / Platform Engineer to support the operation, modernization, and migration of a large federal Enterprise API Gateway environment. This role supports API gateway configuration, platform engineering, integration, validation, documentation, and production readiness across the current IBMwebMethodsbaseline, hybrid on-prem/cloud environments, and future approved target gateway platforms.
The Senior Gateway / Platform Engineer helps sustain reliable gateway operations while implementing approved modernization, migration, automation, observability, and platform-currency activities. This role works within approved architecture, security, infrastructure, CI/CD, and release processes to deliver controlled, validated, and documented API gateway outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Configure and support enterprise API gateway environments across development, test, pre-production, production, hybrid on-prem/cloud, and approved dual-run environments
- Install, configure, integrate, andvalidateAPI gateway platform components for approved modernization, technical refresh, platform currency, and target-platform readiness activities
- Configure gateway routes, services, policies, certificates, consumers, plugins, authentication, authorization, logging, telemetry, and environment promotion patterns
- Support API onboarding, updates, lifecycle changes, versioning, deprecation, retirement, and migration-readiness activities across current centralized onboarding and future automated onboarding models
- Develop technical inputs for API inventories, migration sequencing, cutover readiness, rollback planning, and dual-run operations
- Support migration of APIs from IBMwebMethodsto a target API gateway platform through approved migration waves
- Troubleshoot gateway issues involving routing, connectivity, latency, availability, policy enforcement, identity integration, logging, telemetry, and platform configuration
- Coordinate gateway integration touchpoints with approved identity, network, monitoring, logging, incident-management, change-management, CI/CD, OpenShift/container platform, and observability processes
- Perform product-specific validation, including connectivity, regression, security, performance, observability, and operational readiness checks
- Prepare configuration baselines, as-built documentation, runbooks, release evidence, rollback materials, and knowledge-transfer artifacts
Qualifications
- Bachelor27s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise API gateway, integration, middleware, or application platform environments
- Hands-on experience with one or more enterprise API gateway products such as IBMwebMethodsAPI Gateway, Google Apigee, Kong, MuleSoftAnypointAPI Manager, Microsoft Azure API Management, AWS API Gateway, IBM API Connect, Red Hat 3scale, Axway Amplify, WSO2 API Manager,Tyk, or comparable platforms
- Experience configuring gateway routes, services, policies, certificates, consumers, plugins, authentication, authorization, logging, telemetry, and promotion patterns
- Experience supporting API onboarding, publication, lifecycle management, versioning, deprecation, retirement, and migration readiness
- Experience supporting gateway modernization, platform currency, technical refresh, production readiness, release evidence, rollback planning, and hybrid or containerized gateway environments
- Experience troubleshooting API gateway issues across development, test, pre-production, production, or dual-run environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD-enabled deployment processes, configuration-as-code concepts, change control, release coordination, and operational validation, including environments with partial manual deployment steps
- Ability to coordinate effectively across architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, CI/CD, database, network, identity, operations, and release teams
- Strong written communication skills for technical documentation, validation evidence, runbooks, release materials, and knowledge transfer
