Full Job Description
The Adventure Ahead

As the Senior Product Engineer II, you bring expert-level proficiency in frontend engineering, building complex, high-quality product experiences with Angular and TypeScript. You own frontend features end-to-end - from architecture and state management through API integration, testing, performance, accessibility, and production deployment.

While your primary expertise is frontend, you're comfortable crossing system boundaries when needed. You can understand service contracts, navigate backend code, and work effectively with PHP and TypeScript services to diagnose issues, evolve integrations, and deliver complete customer experiences without treating the backend as a black box.

Beyond your technical output, you function as the de facto technical anchor of your squad. You don't hold a management title, but you drive frontend technical direction, mentor peers, coordinate across functions, and ensure your team ships high-quality software consistently. You're the person others turn to when frontend architecture gets complex, customer experiences span multiple systems, or delivery is at risk.

The Day-to-Day
  • Architect the Experience: Drive complex, multi-sprint frontend initiatives across Angular and TypeScript applications, defining scalable component architecture, state management, integration patterns, and technical direction.
  • Own the Experience End-to-End: Take customer-facing functionality from product and design requirements through implementation, API integration, automated testing, observability, and production deployment.
  • Set the Standard: Write exemplary Angular and TypeScript code, establish reusable patterns and clear architectural boundaries, and make durable technical decisions that keep frontend systems scalable, maintainable, performant, and easy to evolve.
  • Work Across Boundaries: Understand service and API contracts, navigate backend and integration code when needed, and partner effectively with engineers working in PHP, Node.js/TypeScript, and platform services to solve problems across the full request lifecycle.
  • Anchor the Squad: Scope timelines, break down complex work, coordinate dependencies across product and platform teams, and maintain continuous delivery momentum across multiple sprints.
  • Level Up the Team: Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and technical discussions while raising the bar for frontend testing, accessibility, performance, CI/CD, observability, and technical-debt management.
  • Partner for Impact: Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, SRE, and platform engineers to translate customer problems into intuitive, reliable experiences and clearly communicate technical and UX tradeoffs.
Your Superpowers
  • Frontend Expertise: 6+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise building modern web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript and frameworks such as Angular, React, or similar, with the ability to become highly effective in an Angular codebase.
  • Angular Architecture: Strong understanding of component architecture, application state, routing, reactive programming, design systems, frontend performance, accessibility, and the patterns required to evolve large-scale web applications.
  • Product Engineering Mindset: A proven track record of owning customer-facing functionality from ambiguous requirements through polished production experiences, balancing engineering quality with usability and business outcomes.
  • Integration Fluency: Comfortable working with REST APIs, service contracts, authentication, asynchronous workflows, and distributed systems, with the ability to navigate backend code - including PHP-backed services - to troubleshoot issues and safely evolve integrations.
  • Engineering Excellence: Hands-on experience with automated testing across unit, integration, and E2E layers, alongside CI/CD, frontend observability, monitoring, performance optimization, and pragmatic technical-debt management.
  • Technical Force Multiplier: Able to guide engineers through technical uncertainty, unblock complex frontend problems, establish reusable patterns, raise engineering standards, and mentor others through design discussions, code reviews, and pairing.
  • Collaborative Communicator: Strong at working across Engineering, Product, Design, QA, and SRE, translating technical tradeoffs without jargon and constructively challenging decisions to deliver better customer experiences.
Bonus Points
  • Design System Experience: Experience building or evolving shared component libraries and design systems across large applications or multiple product surfaces.
  • Performance & Accessibility: Strong knowledge of web performance, accessibility standards, browser behaviour, and the tooling used to measure and continuously improve frontend quality.
  • Cross-Stack Curiosity: Experience making targeted changes to backend services or integration layers, particularly in PHP or Node.js/TypeScript environments.
  • Next-Level Ambition: Active aspiration and progress toward a Staff Engineer or formal technical leadership trajectory.
  • Strategic Pragmatism: A track record of balancing immediate product delivery with long-term frontend architecture and system health.
Our Stack
  • Our frontend product stack centers on Angular and TypeScript, with products integrating with REST APIs, Node.js/TypeScript services, PHP-backed platform services, AWS, event-driven systems, relational databases, CI/CD, and modern observability tooling.
  • You don't need to be a PHP or backend specialist. We do expect you to be comfortable looking beyond the frontend when necessary - understanding API and service behaviour, navigating unfamiliar backend code, debugging issues across system boundaries, and collaborating with backend engineers to deliver complete customer experiences.
  • Direct Angular experience is valuable, but strong engineers from comparable modern frontend ecosystems should still feel encouraged to apply if they have the fundamentals and track record to ramp quickly.
