Senior Developer, Footwear

About this team

The Footwear Development team is a diverse group of creative and solution oriented thinkers. They are product experts with deep industry knowledge of the footwear creation process, working cross-functionally with raw materials, design, sourcing, costing, and merchandising. The team is responsible for the global development of product from conception to commercialization, driving the seasonal product strategy and design vision. This is a team of high performers who are constantly striving to develop personally and professionally, practicing open feedback in a trusting space.

A day in the life:
  • Execute the development strategy for footwear product creation, while simultaneously communicating cross functionally and ensuring alignment with multiple product teams and stakeholders
  • Utilize specialized experience to foresee potential development risks and use broad industry knowledge base to create mainline solutions
  • Manage and oversee timelines within the development process, including prototype readiness, sample reviews, and tech packs
  • Collaborate and communicate with cross functional stakeholders, such as design, material development, innovation, wear testing, procurement and vendors
  • Travel to partnering factories to ensure understanding of departmental strategy and collaborate on design delivery, tech pack clarity, sample development and delivery
  • Communicate product expectations and guidelines with manufacturing partners to ensure they fall within lululemon product standards
  • Adhere to predetermined timelines and gates, actively tracking progress and giving senior leadership updates on agreed upon basis
  • Manage projects to hit costing, performance, and manufacturing targets while maintaining Design intent and Merchandising brief requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or 12 years directly related manufacturing, product creation, or associated field experience
  • 7 years minimum of footwear product creation experience with overseas experience a plus
  • Exceptional collaborator with cross-functional and functional teammates to drive product and process forward; ability to unite a team around a common goal regardless of differing points of views and perspectives
  • Proactive problem solver at both project and enterprise level; always thinking ahead to create order out of chaos
  • In-depth knowledge of pattern making and shoemaking and how it relates back to fit and manufacturing processes
  • Able to deliver product on time and at cost; ability to navigate costing framework and supply chain levers
  • Ability to build and manage product on and off seasonal timelines with ease
  • Knowledge of various types of footwear constructions and the unique challenges and processes involved in each
  • Vast knowledge of material types used in footwear, where/when to use them, as well as how they are manufactured
  • Experience and passion for mentoring and teaching others
  • Always curious and aware that learning has not limits

compensation and benefits package

lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and teamperformance. Thetypical hiring range for this position is from$116,400-$152,800annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and, subject to program eligibility requirements.
