Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting

About the Role

The SFA will be a front-line member of the financial reporting team and will be responsible for a wide range of financial reporting matters focused on the accurate and effective communication of the entity's financial and operating results to its key stakeholders and for providing valuable financial insights and decision support analysis to the business.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Accountable for the timely, complete and accurate preparation of the company's quarterly reviewed and annually audited consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS, as well as the preparation of the company's Management Discussion and Analysis
  • Responsible for the preparation of the company's quarterly compliance reporting and covenant calculations in accordance with the company's external agreements
  • Assist with preparation of key reports presented quarterly to the company's Audit Committee and Board of Directors
  • Research and analyze complex, non-routine accounting issues and key agreements (customer contracts, partnership agreements, debt and hedging arrangements, leases, etc.) to determine IFRS compliant resolutions, make recommendations, and draft memos to support policy decisions
  • Prepare and maintain complex accounting models related to debt accounting, deferred revenue, contingent consideration, leases, other post-employment benefits, etc. to prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Provide assistance to the Company's external auditors during the completion of quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Prepare the quarterly/annual tax provisions, and liase with the company's external tax advisors to ensure that tax returns are accurately completed and filed on time, and to assist with all other tax matters as they arise
  • Assist the Treasury team in preparing quarterly and annual cash flow forecasts to ensure cash liquidity and to accurately estimate distributions to the company's parent
  • Provide budget/forecast support to the company's Financial Planning and Analysis team (and other business units) with respect to non-operational expenses
  • Determine and implement financial reporting impacts for ongoing mergers and acquisitions
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis, reports and special projects as assigned


About You
  • Recently designated CPA, CA
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and note disclosures in accordance with IFRS
  • Strong analytical, technical accounting and problem solving skills, with the ability to process multiple sources of information to deliver insights and well thought out recommendations
  • A strong sense of curiosity and a high degree of attention to detail with a drive to enhance knowledge base and relationships in a proactive manner
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills with all levels of an organization
  • Possess a positive attitude a team player mentality with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Advanced PC skills, including high proficiency in MS Excel
  • Previous experience with Workday Financials and Adaptive Insights is an asset
