--What will your typical day look like?Financial Reporting Close & Analysis
• Support various aspects of the financial reporting close process, including preparing journal entries, supporting analysis, and completing reporting deliverables.
• Perform balance sheet and other financial reconciliations to a high degree of quality as part of the period-end and year-end close process.
• Analyze financial reports, investigate variances and present findings and recommendations as required.
Financial Statements & Tax Support
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and note disclosures.
• Prepare and analyze tax year-end working papers and support reporting requirements as needed.
Technical Accounting & Transaction Support
• Support technical accounting advisory by researching and applying ASPE standards to transactions, and assist with drafting accounting memos and policies.
• Collaborate with Corporate Development, Finance, Tax, and Legal on M&A due diligence, accounting assessments, post-close integration, and related financial reporting matters.
Projects, Automation & Mentorship
• Contribute to Finance-wide initiatives, automation opportunities, ad hoc strategic projects, and mentoring of Co-op students and Financial Analysts.
About the teamThis role is part of the Finance Controllership team, which oversees all aspects of financial accounting at Deloitte. This is a dynamic group of highly motivated individuals focused on continuous learning and growth, added-value analysis and driving efficiencies through process improvements and automation. Reporting to a Finance Manager, Controllership, this role serves as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor.
Enough about us, let's talk about youRequired skills:• CPA designation with a degree in accounting or business/commerce.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, month-end/year-end close, and external reporting.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS, with hands-on experience conducting technical accounting research and support the drafting of accounting memos and policies.
• Experience preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and supporting full financial statement preparation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to generate clear insights and recommendations for Finance and business stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating effectively across functions.
• Experience supporting process improvement, systems enhancements, or automation initiatives is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships across Finance and the business and contribute to mentoring junior team members.
Nice to Haves: • Proficiency in SAP, or similar sized ERP system.
• Experience with cloud based automated financial reconciliation solutions, such as Blackline.
• Experience with data or BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
Total RewardsThe salary range for this position is $69,000 - $114,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
