Summary

As a critical member of nLIGHT and the Finance team, the Senior Financial Analystfor Defense will be working with executive management and partnering with all areas of the business to support the growth and profitability of the defense business group in a complex manufacturing environment. This position will require someone with very high personal and professional values, excellent judgement, and strong leadership skills.

Function
  • Business Partnering - Support contract proposals and performance. Provide recommendations and develop reporting/processes that improve insight and decision-making.
  • Reporting - Develop insightful reports supporting monthly/quarterly/annual results and forecast but also support execution on portfolio of programs.
  • Forecasting - Coordinate and prepare rolling forecast and planning scenarios using both traditional FP&A and EVMS tools. Provide guidance and advice to improve forecasting and reporting accuracy, improve results, and identify areas of risk.
  • Financial Reporting Support - Review accounting packages to ensure accuracy, provide explanations of trends and variances, and develop reporting that helps provide better organizational understanding of results.
  • Compliance Support - Support proposal reviews, annual rate proposals, and reviews/audits with DCAA/DCMA. Partner cross-functionally on issues to ensure FAR compliance, support external audit requirements, and protect sensitive information.
  • Lead and participate on departmental, inter-company, and cross-functional teams to improve reporting and processes, which may range between accounting, operations, government contract and/or finance-focus, and require willingness to stretch knowledge and expertise based on the needs of the organization.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or similar field.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a Corporate Finance or Program Control organization supporting Government Programs, ideally in a dual-segment manufacturing company.
  • Power user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with EVMS, Forecasting, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to organize and complete multiple high-priority projects on schedule.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and strong judgement.
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate complex information to management.
  • Creative and tenacious problem-solver with strong analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of FAR and CAS requirements.
  • Experience supporting Government Programs.
