POSITION SUMMARYThe Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in the preparation, analysis, and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results, as well as forecasting, budgeting, and long-term strategic planning activities for Canadian Wealth Management (CWM) and the Team of Experts (TOE) support group. The role provides financial insight and analytical support to business partners and senior management, enabling informed decision-making and effective financial management.
Key Accountabilities1. Financial Reporting and Performance AnalysisSupport the preparation, analysis, and delivery of financial reporting for the Team of Experts (TOE) support group and broader CWM Finance team. Monitor financial results against key performance indicators, budgets, forecasts, and other performance metrics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monthly headcount reporting and quarterly workforce analysis.
- Monthly expense reporting and variance analysis.
- Preparation of monthly management reporting packages.
- KPI reporting, trend analysis, and performance monitoring.
- Investigation and explanation of financial variances and emerging trends.
2. Forecasting, Budgeting, and Strategic PlanningParticipate in the development and execution of the annual budget, strategic planning, scenario analysis, and monthly forecasting processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and updating planning and forecasting models.
- Preparing financial commentary and management insights.
- Coordinating the preparation and distribution of annual planning packages.
- Supporting cost centre and transit owners in developing and completing department budgets.
- Monitoring forecast and budget submissions and uploading data into Hyperion and other planning systems.
- Consolidating business submissions and performing detailed financial analysis.
- Conducting variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior-year results.
3. Financial Modeling and Business SupportDevelop, maintain, and enhance financial models to support business initiatives, strategic decision-making, and investment evaluations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assessing the financial impact of new business initiatives through scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Supporting business leaders with financial evaluations and recommendations.
- Preparing profitability and return-on-investment analyses.
- Conducting financial assessments of marketing campaigns and strategic initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
4. Ad Hoc Analysis and ReportingPrepare ad hoc financial analyses, presentations, and reporting to support management requests, strategic initiatives, and business decision-making.
5. Stakeholder Support and Relationship ManagementProvide timely financial guidance and support to business partners and stakeholders across CWM.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to financial inquiries and resolving reporting issues.
- Delivering actionable insights and recommendations.
- Building effective working relationships with stakeholders across Finance and the business.
6. Coaching and Team SupportProvide guidance, training, and support to Financial Analyst interns and co-op students to ensure successful completion of month-end reporting, forecasting, and analytical activities.

- Experience working with financial systems and reporting tools such as OBI, Hyperion, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, Power Pivot, and financial modeling techniques.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build consensus and foster strong business relationships.
