We are seeking an experienced Senior Field Safety Specialist in Hayward, CA to support and lead safety initiatives throughout utility construction operations. This advanced-level safety professional will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, fostering a strong safety culture, mentoring personnel, and driving continuous improvement across assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Advise personnel on safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Conduct routine and follow-up safety inspections of construction sites, facilities, equipment, and operations.
- Respond to emergency situations and lead incident investigations, including root cause analyses for serious incidents.
- Develop corrective action plans and monitor implementation to address unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Mentor and train junior safety professionals and field personnel to strengthen overall safety performance.
- Analyze safety data, incident trends, and leading indicators to identify risks and recommend improvements.
- Lead emergency response drills, preparedness planning, and crisis management initiatives.
- Interface with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies regarding safety-related matters.
- Promote a proactive safety culture that aligns with company values and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of construction or utility safety experience, with demonstrated field safety leadership responsibilities.
- Experience in power transmission and distribution line construction strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record required.
Certifications:
One or more of the following certifications is preferred:
- CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician)
- CUSP (Certified Utility Safety Professional)
- Other equivalent, accredited safety certifications
Salary Range: $91,600 - $141,600
