Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Failure Analysis Technician on the Reliability team to conduct cell and module teardowns to facilitate failure analysis. As part of the Reliability team, you will work closely with engineers to complete detailed inspections of test articles that have undergone a variety of electrochemical, mechanical and environmental testing. This collaborative role combines hands-on work in the lab with data collection and documentation, providing key insights for product reliability.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to make a significant and daily impact on cutting-edge battery technology that will revolutionize the electric grid and bring major improvements to grid reliability and sustainability.

What you'll do:
  • Work hands-on (manual drill, hand-held power tools, etc.) to conduct cell & module tear-downs critical to failure analysis.
  • Measure components' physical and electrical properties to determine if they've gone out of spec during operation.
  • Collect samples for submission to analytical testing.
  • Document inspection findings by summarizing the results in a database.
  • Maintain lab equipment, and be a champion of safety.
  • Coordinate with Engineers across a variety of disciplines, Facilities and Shipping/Receiving.
  • Perform device and component pre- and post-test analysis with high level of attention to detail, including visual inspections, leak tests, weld inspections, and electrical continuity checks.
