DescriptionAs a
Senior Environmental Health & Safety Engineer at Impulse, you will collaborate across all business departments, supporting operations at multiple sites and lead critical projects aimed at ensuring workforce safety, health and environmental compliance. From day one you will take ownership of Environmental Health and Safety and will be working alongside a skilled and results-driven team solving new and unique engineering problems that include advanced manufacturing, green-field site development, and rocket engine testing.
Responsibilities- Develops policies, procedures and solutions to ensure compliance with all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations such as OSHA, EPA, NFPA and other applicable regulatory agencies
- Works across multiple sites and cross-functionally to ensure standardization and synergy across teams, and locations
- Becomes the point contact and SME for all Environmental matters of Air quality, Storm Water, Hazadous Waste and Industrial Waste Water
- Perform EHS audits and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies
- Works with leads, supervisors and managers to understand and document job hazards across multiple sites (Manufacturing Facility, Rocket Test Site facility and Offices), using Hazard analysis tools such as JHAs and PPE Hazard assessments to identify and characterize risk
- Works with cross functional engineering teams to develop and execute risk mitigation solutions such as Machine Guarding, LOTO, and exposure to chemical hazards
- Works with facilities and architectural team to ensure critical life safety systems such as Fire Protection Systems, Hazard Communication Systems and Emergency Response Systems meet code requirements and industry best practices
- Ensures all associated Emergency Contingency Plans such as Evacuation, Fires, Spills, First Aid are current, accessible, and communicated across the organization
- Investigate industrial accidents and injuries to determine root causes and corrective actions. Develops and implements solutions
- Works with stakeholders to identify critical EHS training
- Works with HR and Learning & Organizational Development team to develop and execute training
- Proactively monitors policies, training and EHS records to ensure records are kept up to date
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelors degree in engineering, science, or related field
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in environmental, health & safety disciplines
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience maintaining compliance with water, CEQA and other state & federal regulations
Preferred Skills and Experience- 6+ years of demonstrated experience in environmental, health & safety disciplines working within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations
- Demonstrated experience with health and safety OSHA reporting and recordkeeping, PPE Hazard Assessments, Chemical Safety, Hearing Conservation, IH Monitoring Equipment, Airborne Contaminants, Machine Guarding, Medical & First Aid Services
- Demonstrated experience with HAZARDOUS waste and manifesting, CERS Submittals, SWPP, AQMD reporting
- Ability to work in a fast paced, results driven and novel engineering environment
- Project management experience, leading multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity and implementation of machine guarding and industrial hygiene programs
Additional Information:Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
