Who are we looking for?

The US West Environment Market is a critical component of GHD's overall growth strategy in Americas. The US West Region is looking for an Engineer to work from our Seattle, WA office. As an Engineer you will have the opportunity to coordinate and manage remediation projects. This position is an integral part of our Contamination Assessment & Remediation (CAR) business group and requires a diverse array of responsibilities.

The Contamination Assessment & Remediation business focuses on the identification and investigation of contaminants and their impacts on soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor/air. We also select, design and implement effective and sustainable remedial solutions for contaminated sites. We offer expertise with known and emerging contaminants such as hydrocarbons, solvents, PFAS, nutrients, metals, dioxins and furans, acidity and explosives.

Our clients are a mix of public and private organizations in the Petroleum, Oil, Gas, Government (Federal, State, Municipal), Chemical and Manufacturing, Mining, Energy, Transport, Emergency Services, Agriculture, Developers and Legal sectors.

As an Engineeryou will provide technical and delivery leadership of the CAR projects for our clients throughout the West. Mentorship and development of junior staff is a critical component of the role. This position will work from our Seattle, WA office; however, there is opportunity for travel to project sites in other areas and to provide desktop support for projects in other regions, domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities
  • Insights and Reporting: Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports.
  • Solutions Analysis: Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
  • Exploration Plan Development: Provide the design of exploration programs, including risk assessment and budgeting.
  • Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards.
  • Work within multi-disciplinary projects teams, distributing and sharing work to junior staff.
  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation: Gather information and resources, and draft and complete standard requests for bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT) on the requester side.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Community of Practice Management: Participate in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to begin to build own expertise.
  • Work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives: For example, readily involves others to accomplish goals; stays in touch and shares information; discourages "us versus them" thinking; shows appreciation for others' ideas and input.

Education
  • 4-year Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent.

Experience
  • 6 to 8+ years of related experience, including 1 to 3+ years of project management experience in a client-facing role
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
  • Solid understanding of the Washington State Department of Ecology Model Toxics Control Act for site cleanups, particularly focusing on the development of reports including feasibility studies and cleanup action plans.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of the various technologies associated with the remediation of a wide range of hazardous materials/waste.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple projects while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment.
  • Self-starter and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be organized and have strong written and technical skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving - ability to identify multiple solutions to a problem.
  • Commitment to safety utilizing a behavior based safety (BBS) culture in all aspects of the job
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification activities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee

Salary Range: $108,158-$180,263 per year based on experience
