Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or closely related field; recent engineering college graduates are encouraged to apply; three years of experience in professional engineering preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of water and wastewater engineering; of pertinent federal, state and local laws and regulations. Ability to develop and review engineering plans, specifications and technical reports; to conduct engineering studies, identify problems, and make recommendations for their resolution; to administer contracts and coordinate and review the work of outside consultants; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.DutiesDuties include:
- Review the impacts of proposed developments on the existing water and wastewater systems.
- Review site and subdivision construction plans, zoning requests, and other community development applications for compliance with the county specifications, as well as state and federal requirements.
- Evaluate water distribution and wastewater collection systems using field data and standard engineering practices supplemented with computer hydraulic modeling.
- Prepare and review reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and contracts.
- Interact with the public and collaborate with other agencies, consulting firms, and internal/external customers.
- Host or attend meetings with presentations.
- Use Geographic Information System (GIS) Mapping software to answer public inquiries and collect and interpret system data.
- Will train to use Autodesk (InfoWater Pro) to run hydraulic flow tests, both static and dynamic, of the county water system to provide information for internal and external customers.
- Respond to customer inquiries about extending or connecting to the county water and wastewater systems.
- Perform other work as required

This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience. Shift Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
