Location: Remote

Job Summary

Support overhead transmission engineering within CableTechSupportTM by performing mechanical testing on conductors, analyzing data, writing test reports, and managing the Overhead Lab. Develops engineering solutions across operations, production, construction, and maintenance environments to enhance efficiency and performance. Analyzes engineering processes and identifies opportunities to improve system reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Implement multidisciplinary engineering practices to optimize functionality and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform stress/strain testing, creep testing, and additional testing required by overhead transmission engineering and other R&D teams.
  • Perform multi-disciplinary electrical & mechanical functions to analyze and evaluate test data and prepare comprehensive and accurate test reports for both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage additional lab activities including but not limited to sample preparation, testing schedule and priority, and lab organization and maintenance
  • Support the development and testing of Southwire's SAG10 software used by over 400 utilities and consulting agencies for transmission line design
  • Interprets complex technical specifications and communicates these insights to stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and external partners, influencing decision-making and project direction.
  • Assists in the management of advanced application projects by coordinating with cross-functional teams and providing leadership and direction to engineers and technical staff to meet project milestones and objectives.
  • Improves existing systems by identifying areas of inefficiency or failure, applying advanced problem solving techniques, and implementing upgrades or changes to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Coaches junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance on best practices, system design, troubleshooting, and professional development to foster team growth and improve performance.
