Overview of the role

Saputo Dairy Products Canada is seeking a Senior Engineer, Automation and Control to support industrial projects across its Canadian manufacturing facilities.

Reporting to the Director of Operational Technologies (OT), the role plays a key part in defining and implementing automation standards, supporting the Canadian engineering team, and planning, estimating, and executing capital projects (Capex), primarily related to automation.

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with strong leadership, autonomy, and collaboration skills. Travel across Canada is required based on project needs (approximately 50%).

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Plan, manage, and support Canadian plants in the execution of Capex projects, mainly focused on automation;
  • Perform engineering and design work related to electrical power distribution, control systems, automation (programming), and instrumentation;
  • Collaborate with process and building teams in system design, control logic programming, and operator interface (HMI) development;
  • Work with the engineering department buyer to define technical specifications, review bids, select equipment, and consolidate purchases to optimize costs;
  • Prepare budget estimates in collaboration with operations and maintenance teams;
  • Produce technical documentation including electrical layouts, power and communication diagrams, cable routing drawings, and control logic diagrams;
  • Work closely with Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) teams, acting as the engineering representative;
  • Actively contribute to the development, improvement, and maintenance of installations standard.


You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or other relevant training.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of automation, including a strong understanding of PLC and HMI programming languages (Allen-Bradley, Ignition, Schneider, Wonderware, etc.).
  • Good knowledge of industrial networks and Ethernet, as well as Windows environments and virtualization.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD software and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong autonomy, and the ability to prioritize and manage urgent matters.
  • Bilingual (English/French), both spoken and written.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel across Canada (up to 50%).

Salary: $106,870 - $140,270

*Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.
