  • Participate in the preparation of the consolidated income tax provision.
  • Contribute to analyses related to financial statements, including return-to-provision adjustments and requests from external auditors.
  • Prepare and review Canadian tax returns, including T2 and T5013 returns, as well as underlying forms and relevant information returns, including T106, T1134, and T1135.
  • Gather and validate the information required to prepare tax returns, forms, and tax analyses in collaboration with finance teams and other internal partners.
  • Analyze notices of assessment received and ensure follow-up on tax balances, instalments, tax attributes, and applicable deadlines.
  • Prepare analyses and responses as part of internal, external, and government audits, and support interactions with Canadian tax authorities.
  • Participate in domestic reorganizations, financing activities, fund repatriations, and other business initiatives by identifying relevant Canadian tax issues.
  • Conduct research, prepare technical analyses, and draft memos to support the company's tax positions.
  • Maintain and monitor Canadian tax attributes, including adjusted cost base, safe income, paid-up capital, losses, and other relevant attributes.
  • Monitor developments in taxation and changes to Canadian tax legislation and administrative positions, and communicate relevant impacts to team members and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Transfer Pricing Manager in the preparation of contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation for Canadian companies.
  • Coordinate, prepare, or support claims related to tax credits and incentives, including SR&ED credits, investment tax credits, the tax credit for investment and innovation (C3i) in Quebec, and the manufacturing investment tax credit in Ontario, in collaboration with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of tax compliance, documentation, governance, and control processes.

International Exposure and Special Projects
  • Participate in the analysis of income from controlled foreign affiliates and in the calculation of foreign accrual property income (FAPI), when required.
  • Participate in the calculation and support certain analyses related to foreign affiliate surplus, fund repatriations, cross-border reorganizations, and the Canadian tax implications of international transactions.
  • Support the team with compliance related to OECD Pillar Two and other international projects when the Canadian team's involvement is required.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and tax teams located outside Canada on certain targeted matters.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Experience with SR&ED credits, investment tax credits, or innovation and manufacturing tax incentives, considered an asset.
  • Ability to manage several priorities, meet deadlines, and produce high-quality work with strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset, professional judgment, autonomy, curiosity, and ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax partners.
  • Collaborative approach and strong internal client service orientation, with the ability to work effectively with Finance, Legal, Operations, Treasury, and external advisor teams.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative attitude that support an effective response to evolving priorities, tax team needs, and requests from various business partners.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, and advanced functions), as well as comfort with analysis and automation tools such as Power BI and Microsoft Copilot. Knowledge of Taxprep is required.
