Summary of PositionAs a
Senior Electrical Engineering Designer, Refrigeration, supporting our Architecture and Engineering business unit, you will be responsible for designing and drafting electrical engineering projects under the guidance of Electrical Engineers/Project Managers. Projects will be located throughout the U.S. and will include power distribution, lighting and fire alarm systems. As part of a multi-disciplined firm, you will be coordinating with Site/Civil Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects and Construction Project Managers. You will be responsible for the production of electrical engineering construction documents while adhering to client requirements, code requirements, and site adjustments.
Responsibilities- Lead and produce electrical design and drafting work for refrigeration-intensive retail and grocery projects.
- Develop and review electrical construction documents for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, equipment connections, and related electrical systems.
- Provide technical guidance to electrical designers on design approach, documentation quality, code interpretation, client standards, and constructability.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and design inputs to identify technical issues, coordination gaps, and opportunities to improve quality.
- Coordinate electrical design requirements with Mechanical, Architectural, Structural, Site/Civil, and Construction teams throughout design development and contract document phases.
- Support coordination of electrical requirements associated with refrigeration equipment, cases, condensers, panels, loads, controls, and related grocery/retail infrastructure, while maintaining electrical design ownership only.
- Conduct site feasibility research and site visit investigations; document existing conditions and provide electrical design recommendations based on findings.
- Assist with addenda, RFIs, change orders, and field-related questions involving electrical design scope.
- Support project teams in applying basis of design, applicable codes, client requirements, and site-specific constraints.
- Mentor designers and share technical knowledge to strengthen electrical design consistency across similar retail/grocery projects.
- Assist in maintaining task budgets by identifying design risks early and supporting efficient technical execution.

- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred
- 20+ years of experience with electrical design for buildings, experience with commercial projects such as big box retail and grocery is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in electrical design for refrigeration-intensive retail/grocery projects.
- EIT preferred, PE a plus
- Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office required
- Arc Flash/Short Circuit experience is a plus
Work LocationThis is a remote or hybrid (1 or 2 days a week in the office) position based out of the following Core States Group offices: Frisco, TX or remote in Texas.
