Kenworth Electrical Architecture Team is dedicated to improving the quality of all engineering projects that require electrical wiring. This team is focused on definition of the electrical architecture of our systems.

We are looking for someone motivated to take a senior engineer role in the Kenworth Electrical Architecture Team that is knowledgeable of electrical systems and motivated to contribute

to a new generation of vehicles at Kenworth and PACCAR at large. This position is within the Electrical Engineering department at Kenworth and involves redefining how Kenworth vehicle requirements and system designs are integrated into vehicle level electrical systems. This will include investigative, development, and coordination activities

Job Responsibilities:
• Design and release of electrical and electronic components and systems for heavy commercial truck.
• Integrate smart Power Distribution Modules into vehicle electrical systems.
• Manage engineering and project management processes to maintain schedule, budget, and functionality.
• Plan and track validation testing of components.
• Support product launch at vehicle assembly plants.
• Ensure industry-leading quality and reliability are met/maintained/exceeded on all components.
• Provide interface documentation to system architect(s), wiring design, and mechanical design group.
• As part of a development team, perform the design and development of assigned elements of power distribution definition, electrical architecture, system schematics or other electronic design practices.
• Work with Field Service and repair teams to improve clarity and speed to market of troubleshooting documentation.
• Work with other teams at Kenworth and other PACCAR divisions to provide complete architecture definition to meet major harness release schedules. This includes interfacing with the PACCAR Technical Center and Peterbilt.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent engineering degree required. Master's degree in similar fields and/or Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
• Knowledge of DC power distribution, management, protection, fusing, practices, and tools.
• Background in system-level development, component selection, integration, performance, and validation.
• 3-5+ years of experience in electrical system development required. Desired experience in design & release of automotive or commercial vehicle electrical systems or industry-related background.
• Able to work in a team environment.
• Understanding of SAE J1939 CAN Protocol and ISO 17987 LIN Protocol.
• Awareness of heavy duty commercial truck regulations, especially affecting instrumentation, emissions, safety, On Board Diagnostics, and other areas impacting electrical/electronic design, architecture, and Functionality preferred.
• Experience with the Siemens Capital electrical system toolsets preferred.
• Experience with supplier management through AlAG processes preferred.
• Automotive embedded electronic component D&R preferred.
• Experience with 3D CAD, especially PTC's Creo preferred.
• Previously demonstrated resourcefulness, strong technical knowledge, analytical capability, and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and have demonstrated high levels of initiative and innovation.
• Travel up to 10% possible as conditions allow
